Job Overview:
The Gender and Protection Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring that gender and protection concerns are integrated into all project cycles. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Gender and Protection Officer will be responsible for the following duties:
  • Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, guidelines, and donor requirements.
  • Implement WFP integrated project activities according to strategy, proposal, budget, and plans.
  • Prepare periodic status reports and other documents as required by management.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents and break down the annual operational plan into weekly, monthly, and quarterly implementation plans.
  • Coordinate with relevant partners and stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
  • Train and guide GFD, BSFP, PMCs, and BDCs on gender mainstreaming concepts.
  • Promote Safe and Inclusive Programming to enhance project quality.
  • Design training manuals and content that meet NRC and donor specifications.
  • Facilitate participatory planning processes to ensure women's representation and voice in project management. 1
  • Identify specific challenges and opportunities for women and men regarding safety, health, livelihoods, security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security, and education. 1
  • Support the implementation of project activities with a focus on preventing harm to beneficiaries. 1
  • Facilitate training on prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse and basic protection concepts for community workers. 1

  • Attend bi-weekly review meetings and participate in gender and protection assessments.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications:
  • A university degree in social sciences or development studies.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in gender mainstreaming, GBV, and protection.
  • Previous experience with international NGOs in a similar role is advantageous.
  • Experience working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • Documented results related to the responsibilities of the position.
  • A valid motorcycle driving license and national identity documents are essential.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree in social sciences or development studies. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of gender issues and protection mechanisms in humanitarian contexts.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of relevant experience in gender mainstreaming, gender-based violence (GBV), and protection.
