Job Overview:
The Research Associate position within the Economics Department (ECO) of the OECD is designed for a talented and motivated individual who will contribute to the Department's analysis and communications on strategic outputs. The role involves conducting background economic and policy research, engaging in statistical and empirical analysis, and assisting in the drafting of speeches and briefing materials for senior officials. The Research Associate will work closely with the Chief Economist and the Senior Economist, collaborating with colleagues across the Department and the broader OECD to enhance the organization's role in economic policy advice and achieve strategic objectives. This position is integral to the Department's efforts to provide sound and innovative policy advice aimed at improving living standards in both Member and non-Member countries.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Research Associate include conducting comprehensive economic and policy research on macroeconomic and structural issues, performing literature reviews, and engaging in statistical and empirical analysis. The individual will assist in drafting high-quality speeches, talking points, and briefing materials for the OECD Chief Economist and the Economic Counsellor. Additionally, the Research Associate will contribute to the development of innovative data visualizations and presentations to enhance communication efforts, support coordination among different branches of the Economics Department, and liaise with other OECD directorates and external stakeholders to gather relevant information. The role may also involve direct participation in specific projects or assignments within the Economics Department.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an undergraduate degree in economics, finance, or a related discipline. Experience in an economic policy environment is advantageous. A strong understanding of macroeconomic policy issues, supported by relevant coursework or experience in macroeconomics, international economics, microeconomics, public policy, statistics, quantitative analysis, and econometrics, is required. The ability to draft high-quality speeches, summaries, and briefing materials, as well as to distill policy implications from research work, is essential. International experience in policy, research, and analytical activities through studies, internships, or professional roles would be beneficial.

Educational Background:
The position requires an undergraduate degree in economics, finance, or a related field. Candidates with advanced degrees or specialized training in relevant areas may have an advantage in the selection process.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have experience in an economic policy environment, with a strong emphasis on macroeconomic and structural policy issues. Previous roles involving research, analysis, and drafting of policy documents will be considered valuable. International experience through studies, internships, or professional activities is also preferred.

Languages:
Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) is mandatory, along with a commitment to achieve a good working level in the other language. Knowledge of additional languages would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
