Job Overview: The position involves supporting the monitoring and quality assurance of Integrated Health and Nutrition Brigades implemented by the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MSPAS) in prioritized municipalities with high incidence of acute malnutrition. The consultant will work in various departments, including Escuintla, Suchitepéquez, Huehuetenango, San Marcos, and Chiquimula. The role requires planning, conducting diagnostics, coordinating with MSPAS personnel, providing technical assistance, and developing action plans to address identified gaps in the implementation of health and nutrition brigades. The consultant will also be responsible for field visits, technical support, and final evaluations to measure the quality of the brigades.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop a monthly activity plan and schedule.
Conduct a diagnostic assessment of the current quality of the Integrated Health and Nutrition Brigades.
Prepare a report on the findings from the diagnostic assessment and share it with authorities.
Coordinate with MSPAS personnel responsible for the implementation of the brigades at central, departmental, and municipal levels.
Provide technical assistance to MSPAS staff to enhance their competencies in diagnosing and treating acute malnutrition.
Develop an action plan to address gaps in resources, human competencies, logistics, and regulations for the quality implementation of the brigades.
Implement the action plan based on identified gaps.
Conduct field visits to support and provide technical assistance to the brigades.
Monitor and coordinate actions at the municipal and departmental levels for the implementation of the brigades. 1
Conduct a final evaluation to measure the quality of the brigades and provide recommendations based on findings. 1
Support the central MSPAS personnel in coordinating this strategy. 1
Strengthen the competencies of brigade personnel in the services provided. 1
Prepare reports and presentations on progress made.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Medical Sciences (required).
Master's degree in related fields such as food and nutritionsecurity" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security or a related area (required).
At least 5 years of professional experience in public and/or community nutrition.
Familiarity with the Comprehensive Health Care Standards for the first and second levels of MSPAS is required.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Medical Sciences and a Master's degree in relevant fields related to nutrition and food security. These educational qualifications are essential for understanding the complexities of health and nutrition in the context of public health.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in public and community nutrition. Experience with nutrition brigades and fieldwork is considered desirable, as is experience in training human resources in health and nutrition.
Languages: Proficiency in Spanish is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not explicitly required for this position.
