Job Overview: The Digital Inclusion Director position is a newly created role aimed at enhancing CARE's digital inclusion practice, which is crucial in a world where access to technology and the internet is increasingly vital for success. The Director will collaborate with program teams and regional offices to implement CARE's vision of universal access to technology and information. Duties and Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the Digital Inclusion Director include developing and executing a comprehensive digital inclusion strategy aimed at impacting 10 million people by 2030. This involves identifying emerging opportunities, integrating new technologies like AI, and collaborating with various CARE units to establish priorities and action plans. The Director will also be responsible for resource mobilization, ensuring that CARE has the necessary financial backing to achieve its goals. This includes cultivating relationships with high-potential donors, leading proposal designs, and negotiating funding agreements. Additionally, the Director will manage a growing team, overseeing recruitment, development, and performance management, while also maintaining budgetary oversight to ensure financial sustainability for the digital inclusion initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess an advanced degree in a relevant field or a university degree with equivalent experience. A minimum of 10 years of experience in technology adoption within low-resource contexts or similar roles is required. The ideal candidate will have strong networks within the digital inclusion and ICT4D sectors, as well as extensive experience in related fields such as food security, financial inclusion, or education. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage cross-cultural relationships are essential, along with direct management experience in implementing digital inclusion programs.
Educational Background: An advanced degree in a relevant field is preferred, although candidates with a university degree and equivalent experience will also be considered. The educational background should ideally include studies related to technology, social sciences, or international development, equipping the candidate with the necessary knowledge to address the challenges of digital inclusion.
Experience: The position requires at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in technology adoption in low-resource settings or related fields. Candidates should demonstrate a history of managing digital inclusion initiatives and partnerships, showcasing their ability to lead teams and drive impactful programs. Experience working with large global organizations is highly desirable, as is a proven track record of improving gender equality through digital initiatives.
