Job Overview: The internship position is designed for an assistant who will be attached to the program referent of the Emergency Desk. The intern will provide support to various missions as a whole. The main objectives of the internship include assisting the Program Referent and the Geographic Manager in executing the administrative tasks necessary for managing missions and programs, as well as in the operational follow-up of programs implemented in the field. The intern is expected to gain knowledge of the different programs and areas of expertise of Solidarités International, understand the humanitarian and geopolitical context of the concerned areas, master tools related to project cycle management and funding cycle, and ensure the flow of information between different stakeholders (desk, headquarters, field).
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for the following tasks: monitoring missions and requests from the field; maintaining continuity of follow-up procedures, including project reporting timelines, project proposal timelines, Activity Follow Up (APU) for ongoing projects, HR organizational charts, tracking contractual data, mission contacts, and donor contacts; participating in drafting project proposals and reports for donors; conducting humanitarian and geopolitical monitoring and keeping up with current events in the countries of the desk; establishing capitalization tools such as program sheets and operational maps; managing the paper and electronic archiving of documents related to missions; participating in various briefings and debriefings for expatriates; providing contextual briefings for expatriates; liaising with other headquarters services (Management, HR, Logistics, Communication, TDI); contributing to certain programmatic or technical projects; collaborating with other assistants to organize and reorganize the network; maintaining contact with missions in the absence of managers; and translating various documents (English to French and vice versa).
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess a higher education degree (bac +4/5) preferably focused on project management and/or humanitarian work, political science, or international relations, with a preference for knowledge in water issues, food security, or rehabilitation. A genuine interest and motivation for the non-profit and humanitarian sector is essential, along with a willingness to work in the field. Experience working internationally is appreciated. Candidates should have strong writing skills, critical thinking and analytical abilities, autonomy, rigor, responsiveness, organization, efficiency, and a significant capacity for work. Proficiency in computer applications such as Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet, and email (Outlook) is required. Fluency in English is mandatory.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a higher education degree (bac +4/5) in fields related to project management, humanitarian studies, political science, or international relations. Candidates with knowledge of water issues, food security, or rehabilitation will be preferred.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have some level of experience, particularly in international settings. While specific years of experience are not mandated, any prior work experience in humanitarian contexts or related fields will be considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of French is also required, as the intern will be involved in translating documents between English and French. Additional languages may be considered a plus but are not mandatory.
Additional Notes: The internship is based at the headquarters of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL in Clichy (92), accessible via the Mairie de Clichy metro station. The internship is subject to a mandatory internship agreement. The compensation for the internship is set at 4.90 euros per hour, calculated based on actual hours worked per month (approximately 154 hours for an average month, equating to 22 days of 7 hours each). Public transport costs will be reimbursed at 50% by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL. Additionally, interns will receive meal vouchers worth 8.90 euros per day of actual internship, with SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL contributing 60% of the cost.
