Job Overview: The Young Associate position within the Regional and Rural Policy Unit at the OECD is designed for individuals who are passionate about analyzing regional and rural discontent and enhancing competitiveness through sustainable Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices. The role entails working closely with a multidisciplinary team under the guidance of a Senior Policy Analyst to drive economic revitalization and well-being in regions and rural areas. The Young Associate will engage in identifying successful partnerships between private firms and communities, focusing on boosting local economies and leveraging climate change opportunities. Duties and Responsibilities: The Young Associate will undertake various responsibilities, including conducting analysis and desk research to identify best practices in ESG and partnerships that enhance competitiveness and sustainability in regions and rural areas. They will contribute to the development and analysis of questionnaires aimed at gathering insights on private-community partnerships and their local economic impacts. The role also involves performing literature reviews and drafting reports on findings related to sources of discontent, industrialization opportunities, and climate change in regions and rural areas. Additionally, the Young Associate will assist in drafting briefs, policy notes, papers, and reports as required, facilitate discussions in working and expert groups to share knowledge and co-develop solutions, and liaise with industry and policy experts to ensure alignment with innovative practices and climate-related opportunities for rural development.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Young Associate position should possess excellent written and oral communication skills, along with strong research and analytical abilities. A solid foundation in statistical and quantitative skills is essential, and familiarity with statistical software such as STATA, R, SAS, or SPSS would be considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and a keen interest in regional and rural development issues.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold an undergraduate degree in economics, economic geography, public policy, environmental economics, political science, statistics, management, international relations, or a related discipline. The graduation date should fall between 1 January 2024 and 1 September 202
