Job Overview: The Young Associate position within the Regional Development and Multi-level Governance Division of the OECD is designed for recent graduates who are eager to contribute to the governance of regional development. The role involves assisting various levels of government in refining their inter-institutional relationships and governance frameworks to create more resilient and inclusive regions and communities. The Young Associate will engage in governance topics such as innovative governance practices, strategy and policy planning, and stakeholder engagement. The position also entails addressing practical challenges faced by governments, including industrial transitions, disaster recovery, and investment fund management, thereby supporting the development of effective governance models.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Young Associate will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including conducting desk research into innovative governance practices and strategy implementation. They will contribute to qualitative research and analysis, assisting in the development of case studies, meeting highlights, report chapters, and other documentation. The role also involves gathering and analyzing quantitative data to derive insights from perception surveys and external datasets. Additionally, the Young Associate will help design and deliver workshops, seminars, and knowledge-sharing events, contributing to the overall mission of enhancing regional governance and development.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Young Associate position should possess an undergraduate degree in economics, government/international relations, public policy, or a related discipline, with a graduation date between January 1, 2024, and September 1, 202
Applications from those already holding or enrolled in a Master’s, PhD, or equivalent degree will not be considered. Coursework in statistics and one of the following areas is required: economics, political science, public governance, or regional development. Ideal candidates will also demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, strong research and analytical abilities, and statistical and quantitative skills, particularly in using Excel for data analysis and visualization.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as economics, government/international relations, public policy, or a related discipline. Candidates must have completed coursework in statistics and one of the specified areas, ensuring they have a solid foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of governance and policy analysis.
Experience: The position is aimed at recent graduates, so the level of experience required is minimal. However, candidates should demonstrate familiarity with governance practices and policy analysis through their academic work or internships. The role is designed for individuals who are entering the workforce and are looking to gain practical experience in a reputable international organization.
