Job Overview: As the Deputy Country Representative, you will play a crucial role in managing and advancing the programming objectives of CRS in Sudan. Under the guidance of the Country Representative, you will be responsible for ensuring that the organization's mission to serve the poor and vulnerable is effectively implemented. Your strategic management skills will be essential in enhancing CRS's reputation and impact while proactively managing security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and mitigating risks. This position requires a strong focus on program quality, adherence to donor expectations, and the development of strategic partnerships with various stakeholders, including government entities and international organizations. You will also oversee the management of projects to ensure they are designed and implemented for maximum impact and reach, while promoting a safe and accountable environment for staff and beneficiaries alike.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the design and implementation of medium and long-term goals in alignment with CRS's strategic objectives.
Oversee project management to ensure compliance with donor expectations and adherence to CRS program quality standards.
Effectively manage senior talent, including supervising team dynamics and staff well-being.
Develop strategic partnerships with national and international organizations to leverage resources and expertise.
Ensure strong representation to key stakeholders, including Church partners, local and national government, and international donors.
Monitor national and regional issues to manage and mitigate risks impacting staff and programming.
Promote efficient use of agency and donor resources, ensuring compliance in operational functions.
Pursue strategic growth opportunities and oversee capture planning.
Foster a learning environment that encourages sharing of ideas and solutions, while promoting accountability and knowledge management.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing high-value relief and development programs.
Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent relations management abilities and team leadership skills.
Very good communication and presentation skills.
Proactive, resourceful, and results-oriented approach to work.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in international development, International Relations, or a related field is required. Additional experience may substitute for some educational requirements, indicating that practical experience in the field can be considered in lieu of formal education.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience managing high-value relief and development programs. This experience should include working with multiple international donors and managing projects that require a high level of strategic oversight and operational management.
Languages: Fluent written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in written and spoken Arabic is considered an advantage, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders and enhance program effectiveness.
Additional Notes: This position is based in Port Sudan and requires the ability to travel within Sudan up to 50%, including remote field locations. Depending on visa arrangements, the post holder may also work from home, Nairobi, or another location in East Africa. The position is open to international applicants, with a preference for candidates holding Sudanese passports. CRS prioritizes candidates who are citizens or permanent residents of the countries where CRS operates.
