Job Overview: The Standards and Training Manager (STM) will play a crucial role in managing and developing technical training and standards across MAG's operations in Sri Lanka. This position involves overseeing all aspects related to field operations, equipment, and training, while also providing logistical and administrative support to the Technical Operations Manager (TOM) and the Standards and Training Team. The STM will be responsible for compiling training management practices and developing training plans that enhance operational effectiveness. The role requires working in remote and challenging environments, where the impact of the work is significant and life-saving for local communities. The STM will be involved in the day-to-day operations of MAG, ensuring that the organization meets its mission of making land safe for communities affected by conflict.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and develop technical training programs and standards for field operations.
Provide logistical and administrative support to the Technical Operations Manager and Standards and Training Team.
Compile training management practices and develop training plans to maintain operational effectiveness.
Lead and manage field clearance operations and Land Release activities.
Integrate mechanical assets into clearance operations effectively.
Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Develop, review, and comply with security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and technical Standard Operating Procedures.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Represent and promote MAG in various forums and discussions. 1
Plan and coordinate activities and projects independently, often in stand-alone environments with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications:
EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) qualification is mandatory.
Proven experience in mine clearance and EOD operations in developing or conflict-affected countries.
Experience in managing field clearance operations and Land Release processes.
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage diverse teams.
Experience in designing, developing, and delivering training programs.
Strong commitment to high-quality standards and continuous improvement.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Educational Background: A relevant degree in a field related to humanitarian work, engineering, or a similar discipline is preferred. Additional certifications in EOD or mine action are highly desirable.
Experience: Candidates should have substantial experience in mine clearance and EOD operations, particularly in challenging environments. Experience in managing teams and training personnel is essential, along with a proven track record of working independently in remote locations.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Sri Lanka is an advantage but not required.
Additional Notes: This position offers a salary package of £70,028 GBP per annum (approximately $88,699 USD), including all allowances. The role is full-time and may require working in remote areas.
