Currently, CRS employs around 50 staff members across five offices in Chad, including its main office in N’Djamena, as well as locations in Bol, Adré, Farchana, and Abéché.
Job Overview: The Country Manager will oversee and represent the CRS country program office in Chad, ensuring that the organization's mission to serve the poor and vulnerable is effectively advanced. This role requires strategic leadership and management skills to enhance CRS's reputation and impact while proactively managing security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security risks. The Country Manager will work closely with the Country Representative to develop strategic frameworks and resource mobilization strategies that align with regional and agency priorities. The Country Manager will also be responsible for fostering a positive team environment, managing senior talent, and establishing strategic partnerships with various stakeholders, including government officials and international organizations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Country Manager will lead the vision, mission, and strategy of CRS in Chad, ensuring alignment with medium and long-term goals. Responsibilities include overseeing the design and implementation of projects, ensuring compliance with CRS program quality standards, and managing the resilience and recovery activities funded by German donors. The Country Manager will monitor security situations, manage team dynamics, provide coaching and mentoring, and develop staffing plans. Additionally, the role involves representing CRS to key stakeholders, managing risks, ensuring adherence to safety and security policies, and promoting accountability and learning within the organization. The Country Manager will also pursue strategic growth opportunities and maintain a conducive environment for learning and knowledge sharing.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in international development, International Relations, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience managing high-value relief and development programs is required, with a preference for candidates who have worked in complex development settings. Strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with excellent relationship management abilities and team leadership experience. Proficiency in English and French is mandatory, and candidates should demonstrate a proactive, resourceful, and results-oriented approach to their work.
Educational Background: The position requires a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as international development or International Relations. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the strategic management of development programs.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in managing high-value relief and development programs, with a strong preference for those who have experience in complex development environments. Candidates with at least 10 years of demonstrated experience managing projects funded by international donors, including USAID and UN agencies, will be viewed favorably. Experience in engaging partners and strengthening partnerships is also desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English and French is required for this position. These languages are essential for effective communication with stakeholders, partners, and team members in the region. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.
