Job Overview:
The OECD Trade and Agriculture Directorate (TAD) is responsible for providing timely information and advice to support governments in enhancing the performance of their trade, agriculture, food, and fishery policies. The Analysis, Data and Modelling division (TAD/ADM) plays a crucial role in this mission by offering evidence-based policy advice and monitoring international trade dynamics. The Trade Policy Analyst will be expected to contribute significantly to research and analysis, supporting the OECD's objectives of promoting open markets and a rules-based international trading system. The successful candidate will engage in analytical contributions, communicate findings effectively, and collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the relevance and impact of their work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Trade Policy Analyst will be responsible for a range of tasks including:
  • Conducting research and analysis to draft analytical and conceptual reports that provide economic and policy insights on trade policy issues relevant to the OECD Trade Committee.
  • Offering policy guidance related to trade policy matters within their area of responsibility.
  • Performing impact analysis of international trade policy initiatives.
  • Drafting papers, maintaining databases, and responding to technical inquiries in their areas of expertise.
  • Participating in and supporting the OECD Trade Committee and its subsidiary bodies, expert meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with OECD delegations, national authorities, and international agencies.
  • Contributing to the organization of workshops, conferences, forums, and other relevant events.
  • Carrying out additional related duties as assigned by the Head of Analysis, Data and Modelling Division.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess an advanced university degree in economics or a related field with a focus on international trade or international macroeconomics. They should have at least five years of experience in research and policy analysis related to international trade and macroeconomics, demonstrating a strong quantitative background. The candidate must exhibit proven analytical and policy-oriented skills, with the ability to effectively execute research or project assignments. They should also be capable of synthesizing complex technical and policy issues for a policy-minded audience at governmental or intergovernmental levels. Expertise in supply chain analysis, trade monitoring, development of quantitative indices, and computable general equilibrium or econometric modeling of trade policies is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold an advanced university degree in economics or a related discipline that connects to international trade or international macroeconomics. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of trade policies and their implications on a global scale.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of professional experience in research and policy analysis specifically related to international trade and international macroeconomics. This experience should include a strong quantitative component, showcasing the candidate's ability to engage in rigorous analysis and provide actionable insights into trade policy issues.

Languages:
Fluency in one of the two official OECD languages, English or French, is mandatory, along with a commitment to achieve a good working level in the other language. Knowledge of additional languages would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and contribute to international discussions.

Additional Notes:
The position is a two-year fixed-term appointment with the possibility of renewal. The monthly salary starts at 7,738 EUR, depending on the level of experience, and is exempt from French income tax.
