Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Accounting and Administrative Support position include:
  • Providing accounting and administrative support, including maintaining proper control of supporting documents for bank and balance sheet reconciliation, preparing routine correspondence, and maintaining a digital filing system for financial records.
  • Assisting field offices with monthly bank and investment reconciliations, preparing reports for unreconciled transactions, and monitoring prepaid and MasterCard transactions.
  • Ensuring compliance with UNOPS financial processes and improving reconciliation processes through the Kyriba system.
  • Participating in finance-focused training and contributing to knowledge networks.
  • Assisting with the preparation of adjusting entries for gains and losses, and ensuring high levels of automatching for financial records.
  • Providing regular updates to supervisors on unreconciled items and facilitating knowledge sharing within the finance team.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for this position include a completion of secondary education, with a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related fields being desirable. Specialized training in finance is also considered an asset. Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of financial processes and regulations, as well as proficiency in using financial software and office applications. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential for success in this role.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary education as a minimum requirement. A Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is highly desirable and may substitute for some of the required work experience. Specialized training in finance is also advantageous, as it equips candidates with the necessary skills to perform effectively in this role.

Experience:
Candidates are required to have a minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting and financial experience if they possess a high school diploma.
