Job Overview: The Communications Manager for the Cash Consortium of Sudan (CCS) will play a pivotal role in enhancing the visibility and understanding of the CCS's humanitarian efforts. This position requires a proactive individual who can effectively communicate the consortium's mission, strategies, and impact to various stakeholders, including donors, partners, and the public. The Communications Manager will be responsible for developing a comprehensive communications plan that includes establishing a robust online presence through a dedicated website and social media channels. This role involves creating diverse content types, such as press releases, marketing materials, and success stories, to effectively convey the consortium's achievements and ongoing projects. The Communications Manager will also oversee the collection of multimedia content, ensuring that the narratives of program participants are highlighted and shared widely. Additionally, the role includes producing internal newsletters to keep consortium members informed and engaged. The Communications Manager will work closely with the CCS Secretariat and partner organizations to ensure consistent messaging and effective communication strategies that align with the organization's goals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan for the CCS, including strategies for digital presence and stakeholder engagement.
Write, edit, and distribute various types of content, including website material, press releases, and marketing collateral.
Collaborate with partners to gather and produce compelling content, such as interviews, success stories, and multimedia coverage of program events.
Create and manage internal newsletters to facilitate communication within the consortium.
Ensure compliance with security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security procedures and policies as determined by country leadership.
Maintain awareness of developments in the humanitarian context in Sudan and adapt communication strategies accordingly.
Supervise the Communications Officer based in Sudan, providing guidance and support in their role.
Engage with beneficiaries and stakeholders to ensure accountability and transparency in communications.
Foster partnerships with local and international organizations to enhance the reach and impact of communications efforts. 1
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and make adjustments as necessary to improve outreach and engagement.
A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in media, journalism, advocacy, or communications and marketing.
Strong technical skills in multimedia, web, and digital tools.
Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a proven ability to produce high-quality content for diverse audiences.
Proficiency in graphic design is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
Educational Background: Candidates should possess a degree in Communications, Political Sciences, Public Information, International Relations, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and understanding of the complexities involved in communication within humanitarian contexts.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 4 years of relevant experience in media, journalism, advocacy, or communications and marketing. This experience should include working in external relations contexts, demonstrating a strong understanding of how to effectively communicate with various stakeholders in the humanitarian sector.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and verbal, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an asset, enhancing the ability to communicate with diverse communities and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The position is based in Nairobi, Kenya, with up to 40% travel required to support consortium programming in Sudan and neighboring countries such as Chad, South Sudan, Egypt, and Ethiopia. The role may involve travel to insecure locations where freedom of movement is limited and amenities are scarce.
