Job Overview:
The Shelter/WASH Project Coordinator is responsible for implementing a delegated portfolio of Shelter and WASH projects. This role involves managing field staff, adhering to NRC policies, and contributing to the development of project strategies and proposals. The coordinator will ensure that projects are aligned with donor requirements and are of high technical quality. Regular progress reports will be provided to the Shelter/WASH Project Manager, and the coordinator will work to ensure that the projects target the most vulnerable beneficiaries. The role also includes capacity building of project staff, collaboration with local authorities, and promoting the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees. The coordinator will lead technical assessments, develop guidance and tools for the Shelter/WASH team, and ensure community sensitization regarding planned activities. This position requires a proactive approach to organizational learning and documentation of activities, as well as cooperation with other departments to address cross-cutting issues during project implementation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Shelter/WASH Project Coordinator include:
  • Line management of Shelter/WASH project field staff.
  • Adherence to NRC policies, guidance, and procedures.
  • Contributing to the development of Shelter/WASH strategies and project proposals.
  • Managing and implementing the delegated portfolio of Shelter/WASH projects, ensuring compliance with proposals, strategies, and donor requirements.
  • Providing regular progress reports to the Shelter/WASH Project Manager.
  • Ensuring projects target beneficiaries in need of protection and exploring new ways to assist them.
  • Promoting ideas for improvement in project activities.
  • Capacity building of project staff and transferring key skills.
  • Liaising with local authorities and stakeholders. 1
  • Advocating for the rights of IDPs and returnees. 1
  • Coordinating technical assessments of infrastructure to identify needs. 1
  • Developing technical guidance and tools for the Shelter/WASH team. 1
  • Ensuring community awareness of planned activities. 1

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Shelter/WASH Project Coordinator position include:
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in construction works and/or Shelter/WASH programming.
  • Technical knowledge in Shelter and/or WASH, particularly in humanitarian programs.
  • Experience in people management for at least 3 years.
  • Documented technical competencies related to the responsibilities of the position.
  • Proven results related to the position's responsibilities.
  • Good working knowledge of the international humanitarian sector, including the UN cluster system.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and independently.
  • Understanding of humanitarian compliance and accountability to donors and affected populations. 1

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Shelter/WASH Project Coordinator position typically includes a relevant degree in fields such as engineering, social sciences, or a related discipline. Experience:
