Job Overview:
The Communications Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the Finance, Investment and Global Relations Division (ENV/FIG) within the OECD Environment Directorate. This position requires an experienced and motivated individual to develop and implement a comprehensive communication and dissemination strategy aimed at enhancing the Division's influence and impact. The successful candidate will lead various communication initiatives, focusing on innovative approaches to disseminate the Division's work effectively. Reporting to the Head of Division, the Communications Coordinator will collaborate closely with the ENV Communications Manager, the Directorate's central communications team, and the Directorate for Communications (COM). The role demands adaptability to a fast-changing environment and the ability to create effective networking and outreach strategies to maximize the reach and impact of the Division's activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for a range of duties, including:
  • Communications management and coordination: Collaborating with senior management to develop and implement a strategy for communications and knowledge management, leading the dissemination of the Division's work across various platforms, and overseeing day-to-day communications tasks for staff.
  • Media and stakeholder relations: Building relationships with media outlets and journalists, managing media relations, handling press inquiries, organizing interviews and press events, analyzing media coverage, and identifying communication partners for stakeholder engagement.
  • Message development and content creation: Crafting key messages to enhance the accessibility of the Division's work, developing high-quality communications materials, and mastering online communication channels to create multimedia content.
  • Website, events, and publications management: Collaborating with the central ENV communications team to ensure effective use of the Division's websites, advising staff on content and troubleshooting technical issues, coordinating the development of the Division's publications program, and leading communication plans for major events and publications.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, environment, political science, international studies, business, or related fields. Additionally, they should have at least three to five years of experience in a communication role with similar responsibilities, preferably within an international organization. Experience in project and workflow management, public affairs, stakeholder outreach, and event management is essential. Proficiency in media and social media engagement, knowledge of professional editorial standards, and experience in website construction and content development are also required. Familiarity with online communication tools and methodologies, as well as experience in producing video and photography content, would be advantageous.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have a university degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as communications, journalism, environment, political science, international studies, or business. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of communication strategies and the environmental policies that the OECD promotes.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three to five years of professional experience in a communication role with similar responsibilities. Candidates should have experience in managing projects and workflows, particularly in high-pressure environments, and should be adept at public affairs, stakeholder outreach, and event management. Active professional experience with media and social media platforms is essential, along with a strong understanding of editorial standards and online communication methodologies.

Languages:
Fluency in one of the two official OECD languages, English or French, is mandatory, along with knowledge of the other language. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to achieving a good working level in the second language, as effective communication in both languages is crucial for the role.

The position is a thirteen-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of renewal, with an ideal start date in February 202
  • The salary will depend on the selected candidate's experience and status (temporary staff or official), and the appointment may be made at one grade lower based on qualifications. The position is based at the OECD Annex in Boulogne-Billancourt, France, with the possibility of teleworking according to OECD corporate guidance.
