Job Overview:
The internship opportunity is situated within the Directorate of Space Transportation at the European Space Agency's headquarters in Paris, France. The selected intern will be part of the Infrastructure & Value Chain Department, specifically working with the CSG (Centre Spatial Guyanais) team. The primary focus of this internship is to automate the assessment checks on the CSG Georeturn data Excel files through the implementation of VBA routines. Interns will gain hands-on experience in data assessment, automation, and project management while collaborating closely with project controllers and the industrial policy team. This role is designed for university students who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting, contributing to the enhancement of operational efficiency and data management processes within ESA.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for several key activities, including:
  • Assessing the provided Georeturn data Excel files to identify parameters that require checking and mapping out the automation needs.
  • Developing Excel Macros to automate the checks tasks, thereby improving efficiency and accuracy in data handling.
  • Drafting dashboards for discrepancies checks and for global data assessment, which will aid in visualizing and interpreting the data effectively.
  • Supporting the preparation of georeturn forecasts files, which are essential for planning and operational purposes. The intern will work closely with the project controller and the industrial policy team to ensure that all tasks are completed accurately and on time.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be university students, preferably in their final or second-to-last year of a Master’s level course. They should remain enrolled at their university for the entire duration of the internship. A good knowledge of IT tools, particularly Excel and Excel VBA, is essential. Familiarity with PowerBI is considered an asset. Additionally, candidates should possess strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes being a university student, ideally pursuing a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as engineering, computer science, data science, or a related discipline. The candidate should be in their final or second-to-last year of study, ensuring they have a solid foundation of knowledge and skills applicable to the internship tasks.

Experience:
While prior professional experience is not mandatory for this internship, candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of data management and analysis, particularly in the context of Excel and VBA programming. Any relevant coursework, projects, or internships that showcase the candidate's ability to work with data and automation tools will be advantageous.

Languages:
The working languages of the European Space Agency are English and French. A good command of one of these languages is required for the position.
