MONUSCO/MONUC was established in 1999 under the auspices of the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO). The mission's objectives include supporting the Government of DRC in protecting civilians, reducing threats from armed groups, and stabilizing the region through the establishment of accountable state institutions. Job Overview:
The Operations Coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the Chief, Contingent Owned Equipment. This role involves being the primary point of contact for contingent personnel, conducting inspections of formed units, and ensuring compliance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The coordinator will also be responsible for maintaining databases related to contingent owned equipment and providing advice on compliance issues. This position is critical in supporting the mission's operational readiness and ensuring that all units adhere to their responsibilities as outlined in the MOU.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Operations Coordinator will perform a variety of duties, including: serving as the main contact for contingent personnel on daily matters; conducting inspections of formed units to verify compliance with MOU; raising inspection verification reports in the UCM/eCOE database; advising formed units and mission technical sections on COE/MOU matters; maintaining inventories of COE held by assigned units; overseeing the issuance of UN-owned equipment and services; maintaining the COE database; and dedicating time for capacity development of national staff and partners through coaching and training. Additional duties may be assigned by the Chief COE Unit or supervisor as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. A thorough understanding of UN operations and peacekeeping mandates is essential. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Knowledge of database management and reporting is also necessary, along with a commitment to capacity development and mentoring of local staff.

Educational Background:
A relevant degree in international relations, peacekeeping, security studies, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees are preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of international humanitarian law and human rights law, as well as the operational aspects of peacekeeping missions.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in peacekeeping operations, logistics, or a related field. Experience working in conflict or post-conflict environments is highly desirable. Familiarity with UN policies and procedures, particularly regarding contingent owned equipment and compliance, is essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of French is highly desirable. Proficiency in local languages spoken in the DRC may also be beneficial.
