Job Overview: The Technical Specialist position is situated within the Social Security Development Branch (SSD) of the ISSA. The SSD is responsible for producing the technical knowledge necessary to achieve ISSA's objectives, which include promoting excellence in social security administration. The incumbent will report to the Director of the SSD and will be tasked with implementing specialized technical projects within the SSD's area of activity. This role requires delivering expected results within set deadlines and involves working with various databases related to social security, including country profiles published in the Social Security Programs Throughout the World (SSPTW). The Technical Specialist will also support other ISSA databases and may participate in teams focused on specific tasks, contributing to the analysis of social security trends and crises.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Technical Specialist will be responsible for editing country profiles in a clear, concise, and standardized language, ensuring that information is complete, consistent, and up-to-date by referring to official primary sources, including relevant government websites and applicable laws and regulations. The role includes validating data collected for national profiles of the SSPTW and other databases as needed, contributing to the selection and classification of data sources and bibliographic resources in relevant technical fields. The incumbent will communicate with social security institutions in various regions, particularly French or Spanish-speaking areas, to compile and centralize information for ISSA databases and other products. Additionally, the Technical Specialist will assist in analyzing data contained in ISSA databases and observatories and contribute to the publication of ISSA reports related to analyzed trends. The role also involves enriching and updating information in the social security database and disseminating it on the ISSA website, collaborating with IT staff and the Social Security Promotion Branch as necessary. Other tasks may be assigned as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in a relevant field, with a higher degree being an asset. A minimum of three years of experience in social security schemes and regulations is required. The role demands a strong ability to cross-check primary data from national and international sources, participate in drafting high-quality reports and publications, and maintain detailed records of research conducted. Candidates should demonstrate excellent writing skills for preparing drafts and providing advisory services, as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills. Analytical skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, adhering to guidelines and directives. The ability to conceptualize, plan, coordinate, and conduct simple research tasks, as well as good computer skills, is also necessary.
