Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Project Management Support Associate include: facilitating strong working relationships between responsible partner institutions in-country and the NRG; ensuring effective coordination among partner institutions and various donor and government-funded projects; contributing to the review of project activity progress; supporting the Senior Project Manager in assessing the performance of partner institutions; monitoring project risks; preparing project progress reports; coordinating responses to grievances at national and local levels; assisting in managing partner institutions to ensure deliverables are met; contributing to the preparation of project inception reports, mid-term reviews, and terminal evaluation reports; organizing logistics for stakeholder meetings, field trips, training courses, and workshops; and assisting the Senior Project Manager with project management activities such as planning, reporting, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E).
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Project Management Support Associate position include completion of secondary school education as a minimum requirement. A diploma, degree, or equivalent post-school qualification in fields such as Sustainable Development, Development Studies, Environmental Studies, Economics, International Relations, or Social Sciences is considered an asset. Additionally, project management certification such as Prince 2 Foundation, Prince 2 Practitioner, PMP, or equivalent is advantageous. Candidates should possess a strong understanding of project management principles and practices, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
Educational Background: The educational background needed for this position requires at least the completion of secondary school education. However, candidates with a diploma, degree, or equivalent post-school qualification in relevant fields such as Sustainable Development, Development Studies, Environmental Studies, Economics, International Relations, or Social Sciences will have an advantage. Furthermore, obtaining project management certification, such as Prince 2 Foundation, Prince 2 Practitioner, PMP, or similar credentials, is highly beneficial for applicants seeking this role.
Experience: Candidates must have a minimum of 6 years of experience in the administration or management of donor-funded projects or initiatives within the country. This experience should demonstrate a solid understanding of project management processes and the ability to navigate complex project environments. Knowledge and experience related to Lake Tanganyika basin conservation and lake fisheries management issues will be considered an advantage, as it aligns with the specific project focus areas.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Additionally, a working knowledge of English is required, enabling effective communication with international stakeholders and partners. Proficiency in other languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory for this role.
