Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer Multi-Country Programme Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the recruitment, deployment, and management of UN Volunteers in countries without a UNV field presence. This position involves close coordination with the Regional Portfolio Manager and direct supervision by the Regional Portfolio Specialist. The assistant is responsible for ensuring compliance with UNV rules and procedures, maintaining records of UN Volunteers, and facilitating their onboarding and logistical arrangements. The role also includes monitoring volunteer satisfaction and supporting partnerships with UN entities to enhance volunteer mobilization efforts. The assistant will be expected to contribute to the overall mission of UNV by promoting volunteerism and engaging with communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the UN Volunteer Multi-Country Programme Assistant include:
  • Supporting the recruitment, deployment, and assignment management of UN Volunteers;
  • Monitoring and managing the files of all UN Volunteers, ensuring proper documentation and reporting;
  • Keeping track of the contractual status of UN Volunteers and coordinating follow-up actions;
  • Maintaining up-to-date contact records of all serving UN Volunteers;
  • Ensuring compliance with UNV rules and procedures for volunteer requests and selections;
  • Liaising with UNV HQ and recruitment countries regarding logistical arrangements;
  • Facilitating government clearance and entry visas for incoming UN Volunteers;
  • Providing advisory support to UN Volunteers upon arrival;
  • Preparing regular reports on recruitment progress; 1
  • Coordinating medical evacuations and emergency responses; 1
  • Strengthening relationships with UN partners for volunteer mobilization; 1
  • Addressing inquiries from UN entities regarding volunteer management; 1
  • Supporting capacity development for supervisors on volunteer administration; 1
  • Promoting Online Volunteer opportunities; 1
  • Monitoring volunteer satisfaction and organizing townhalls; 1
  • Maintaining inventories of UNV-supplied equipment; 1
  • Reporting on progress made in volunteer initiatives; 1
  • Performing other relevant duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the UN Volunteer Multi-Country Programme Assistant position should possess strong organizational and communication skills. They should be detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Familiarity with UNV rules and procedures is essential, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
