In Lebanon, UNOCHA's goal is to support the Resident/Humanitarian Coordinator in addressing the humanitarian needs arising from various crises, including economic challenges and health emergencies.

Job Overview:
The Communications Associate position at UNOCHA involves supporting the organization's communication efforts through various tasks. The role is crucial for enhancing the visibility and understanding of humanitarian issues in Lebanon. The Communications Associate will be responsible for conducting research on humanitarian topics, creating engaging social media content, and developing multimedia assets that effectively communicate OCHA's messages. This position requires a strong ability to analyze data and present it in a compelling manner, ensuring that the humanitarian community's work is accurately represented to diverse audiences. The Communications Associate will also play a key role in monitoring media narratives and public reactions, which is essential for shaping communication strategies and responding to emerging issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Associate will undertake a variety of duties, including but not limited to: conducting research on relevant humanitarian topics to provide insights for communication strategies; developing and scheduling content for OCHA's social media platforms, ensuring alignment with communication strategies; creating visuals and graphics using design tools such as CANVA or Adobe InDesign; crafting online stories that highlight humanitarian efforts in Lebanon; monitoring traditional and social media to track narratives relevant to humanitarian work; compiling press clippings and social media analytics; translating communication materials between English and Arabic; assisting in the organization of press briefings and conferences; collaborating with colleagues across OCHA and the UN system to coordinate communication efforts; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Communications Associate position should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to represent data in multiple formats. Proficiency in social media management and content creation is essential, along with experience in research and data analysis. Familiarity with design tools such as CANVA and Adobe InDesign is highly desirable. The ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with diverse audiences is also crucial for success in this role.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field is required for the Communications Associate position. Candidates with relevant certifications or additional training in communication strategies or media relations will be considered favorably.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 1-2 years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field. Experience working in humanitarian contexts or with international organizations is a significant advantage. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successful communication initiatives and the ability to adapt to fast-paced environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, as the role involves translating communication materials between these languages. Knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset, particularly French, as it may enhance communication with a broader audience.

Additional Notes:
This position is likely to be full-time and may involve a contract duration that aligns with the needs of UNOCHA in Lebanon. The role may require occasional travel within the country for field missions and events.
