Duties and Responsibilities: The Communications Associate will undertake a variety of duties, including but not limited to: conducting research on relevant humanitarian topics to provide insights for communication strategies; developing and scheduling content for OCHA's social media platforms, ensuring alignment with communication strategies; creating visuals and graphics using design tools such as CANVA or Adobe InDesign; crafting online stories that highlight humanitarian efforts in Lebanon; monitoring traditional and social media to track narratives relevant to humanitarian work; compiling press clippings and social media analytics; translating communication materials between English and Arabic; assisting in the organization of press briefings and conferences; collaborating with colleagues across OCHA and the UN system to coordinate communication efforts; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Communications Associate position should possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to represent data in multiple formats. Proficiency in social media management and content creation is essential, along with experience in research and data analysis. Familiarity with design tools such as CANVA and Adobe InDesign is highly desirable. The ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with diverse audiences is also crucial for success in this role.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field is required for the Communications Associate position.
