Job Overview:
The UNV Communications Technician - Video Conferencing Technician is a client-facing role that provides essential audio-visual technical support in ESCWA conference rooms. This position involves supporting various virtual meeting platforms and performing level 1 troubleshooting of audio-visual systems. The technician will be expected to work both as part of a team and independently on assigned tasks without supervision. The role is critical in ensuring that all technical aspects of video conferencing are handled efficiently, allowing for seamless communication during meetings and conferences.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the UNV Communications Technician - Video Conferencing Technician include:
  • Installing, configuring, and testing audio and video conference hardware/software using available communication and network connectivity.
  • Assisting in the preparation for meetings by configuring conference hardware in various locations throughout the Commission and operating equipment during conferences.
  • Providing support and training for users of conference systems, including the installation, operation, and maintenance of technical equipment used for sound recording, amplification, enhancement, mixing, or reproduction.
  • Testing equipment and setting up necessary Wide Area Networking (WAN) links before conferences.
  • Operating relevant room equipment during conferences and overseeing the entire conference to ensure all equipment functions properly.
  • Ensuring that all equipment necessary for video conferences is tested and operational, requiring knowledge of Cisco, Tandberg video conferencing endpoints, gateways, and multipoint control unit products, as well as online virtual conference platforms like Zoom, MS Teams, and Cisco WebEx.
  • Assisting with the maintenance and operation of audio conference equipment, audio mixers, and interpretation systems.
  • Researching and evaluating new conference products to ensure compatibility with current operational standards and future growth needs.
  • Assisting with the distribution and return of CIT equipment for DPKO and managing inventory functions such as receipt, inspection, issue, return-to-stock, write-off, shipments, and stock checks. 1
  • Performing other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the position include a strong technical background in audio-visual systems, familiarity with various video conferencing technologies, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
