Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is located at the ESA Headquarters in Paris, France, within the Directorate of Space Transportation. The intern will work under the direct authority of the Director of Space Transportation and will support the Chief Technical Advisor in providing independent technical advice and synthesis. The role involves verifying technical documentation, performing assessments on industrial files, and facilitating technology synergies across the Directorate. The intern will also assist in coordinating the Space Transportation Product Assurance & Safety unit and support various project reviews and technical inquiries. The internship focuses on space transportation technology harmonization and coordination, providing a unique opportunity to engage with cutting-edge space technology and contribute to the development of future launch systems.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for supporting the elaboration of technical synthesis on various launch system topics, including launcher systems, trajectory analysis, structures, aerothermodynamics, cryogenic propulsion, avionics, and launch bases. Additional responsibilities include managing activities with European industry related to future launch systems, tracking actions, assessing risks, and planning. The intern will also assist in compliance assessments of launch systems requirements and technical specifications, ensuring that all activities align with the mission needs and performance criteria set by the Directorate.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be university students, preferably in their final or second-to-last year of a Master's level course. They should remain enrolled at their university for the entire duration of the internship. A good knowledge of English or French is required, and knowledge of another language from a Member State is considered an asset. Familiarity with launch systems and technical fields such as structure, propulsion, aerothermodynamics, and avionics is also advantageous.
Educational Background: The position requires candidates to be enrolled in a university program, ideally pursuing a Master's degree. The educational background should be relevant to the fields of aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related disciplines that provide a solid foundation for understanding space transportation technologies.
Experience: While prior professional experience is not mandatory, any relevant internships or academic projects related to aerospace, engineering, or technology will be beneficial. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a keen interest in space transportation and technology, along with a willingness to learn and contribute to ongoing projects.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is either English or French, with a good command of one being essential. Knowledge of an additional language from one of the ESA Member States is considered a valuable asset, enhancing communication and collaboration within the diverse international environment of ESA.
