The role involves employing advanced modeling techniques, such as Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM), to analyze and project financing flows at the national level. The volunteer will also be responsible for collecting and analyzing socioeconomic data, conducting research on financing issues, and preparing various analytical documents and presentations. This position is critical in supporting the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and addressing the challenges associated with financing for development.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UN Volunteer will undertake a variety of tasks, including:
Leveraging machine learning techniques to project nationally determined priorities for ESCWA member states by 203
Employing or building Long-Short Term Memory (LSTM) models to project prime financing channels at the national level.
Developing a nowcasting dynamic model to capture prime financing flows in ESCWA member states.
Collecting data and conducting research on socioeconomic and financing issues relevant to member states.
Compiling, analyzing, and cleaning datasets to ensure data integrity and usability.
Preparing tables, lists, charts, and generating graphs, figures, and fact sheets on various aspects of financing for development.
Supporting the drafting and updating of documents and analytical summaries related to financing.
Assisting in the preparation of literature reviews, research papers, and presentations to communicate findings effectively.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong analytical skills, particularly in data analysis and machine learning techniques. Familiarity with socioeconomic research and financing issues is essential. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders is also required. Proficiency in data visualization tools and software is advantageous, as is experience with programming languages commonly used in data analysis, such as Python or R.
Educational Background: A degree in economics, finance, data science, statistics, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in machine learning or data analysis would be beneficial and may enhance a candidate's qualifications for this position.
