Job Overview: The Deputy Country Coordinator - Head of Research position is a leadership role responsible for overseeing research teams in Afghanistan. The role requires significant research experience, particularly in fragile settings, to inform high-level humanitarian and development strategies. The Head of Research will manage multiple research cycles, maintain relationships with key stakeholders, and represent IMPACT in strategic discussions. Duties and Responsibilities: The Head of Research - Deputy Country Coordinator will be responsible for providing technical oversight to all research units, ensuring adherence to IMPACT's global research standards, and supervising program implementation. Key responsibilities include maintaining strategic relationships with external partners, supporting grant management and fundraising efforts, leading team management and development, and facilitating effective communication and coordination within the organization. The role also involves ensuring compliance with ACTED's administrative and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security protocols, mentoring research team members, and developing external dissemination plans for research outputs.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess excellent academic qualifications, including a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant discipline. A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in conducting and overseeing research in fragile settings is required. Previous experience in a senior management role within a humanitarian context is essential, along with familiarity with the aid system and coordination mechanisms. Strong communication and drafting skills for effective reporting and presentations are necessary, as well as the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field, such as social sciences, international relations, or a related discipline. Candidates should have a strong foundation in research methodologies and data analysis, which are critical for the role.
Experience: The position requires at least 5 years of relevant experience, particularly in conducting and overseeing research in fragile or conflict-affected settings. Compensation includes a monthly salary between 3,550 EUR and 3,800 EUR, a living allowance, accommodation, and food provided in the ACTED guesthouse. Additional benefits include health insurance, pension, annual leave of 36 days, and support for relocation expenses. The position also includes pre-departure training and enrollment in IMPACT's Research Foundational Learning Programme.
