Job Overview: The Finance Support position at UNRWA is integral to the financial operations of the agency. The role involves entering, verifying, and retrieving financial data within the Agency’s ERP system, ensuring compliance with financial rules and regulations. The Finance Support will prepare payments through the online banking system and assist in the documentation of financial transactions related to various agency activities. This position requires a proactive approach to analyzing and validating financial data, as well as preparing periodic reports as requested by supervisors. The Finance Support will also handle queries from expending offices, suppliers, contractors, banks, and Area Offices, ensuring effective communication and resolution of issues. Additionally, the role includes monitoring office supply requirements, maintaining records of incoming and outgoing documents, arranging appointments and meetings, and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor. This position is crucial for maintaining the financial integrity and operational efficiency of UNRWA.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Support will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: entering, verifying, and retrieving financial data in the Agency’s ERP system; preparing payments in the online banking system and submitting them for review; preparing documentation for financial transactions and ensuring compliance with contracts and financial instructions; assisting in the analysis and validation of financial data; responding to queries from various stakeholders; monitoring office supply requirements and preparing orders; maintaining records of incoming and outgoing mails and documents; arranging appointments and meetings; managing calendar invitations; preparing summary notes of meetings; and undertaking follow-up actions as necessary. The Finance Support will also be expected to perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor, contributing to the overall efficiency of the finance department.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a two-year diploma from an accredited educational institution in accountancy, finance, business administration, or a related discipline. Additionally, a minimum of four years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, financial, or business administration work is required. Experience with computerized finance systems is essential. Candidates must also demonstrate good knowledge of spoken and written English and Arabic. It is important for applicants to currently reside in the duty station, which is Amman, Jordan, and to specify their current location in their application.

The monthly basic salary for this position is JD 668.30, with additional benefits including a monthly Provident Fund contribution (15.4% of basic salary), compulsory medical insurance, 30 days of annual leave, and a dependency allowance if applicable. Additional benefits include two days of sick leave for each completed month of service, 14 weeks of maternity leave, and two weeks of paternity leave. The vacancy is open to both internal and external candidates, but only those residing in Jordan and authorized to work in the duty station at the time of application are eligible. UNRWA will not facilitate work permits, and candidates must have valid authorization to work in Jordan. Preference will be given to registered Palestine refugees and candidates from underrepresented genders to promote gender parity within the agency.
