In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. In doing so, UN Member States took an historic step in accelerating the Organization’s goals on gender equality and the empowerment of women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system, which focused exclusively on gender equality and women’s empowerment: > Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW) > International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (INSTRAW) > Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Issues and Advancement of Women (OSAGI) > United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) The main roles of UN Women are: > To support inter-governmental bodies, such as the Commission on the Status of Women, in their formulation of policies, global standards and norms. > To help Member States to implement these standards, standing ready to provide suitable technical and financial support to those countries that request it, and to forge effective partnerships with civil society. > To lead and coordinate the UN system’s work on gender equality as well as promote accountability, including through regular monitoring of system-wide progress.

Job Overview:
The Programme Analyst position at UN Women Turkiye involves contributing to the effective management of UN Women programs, particularly focusing on the Unstereotype Alliance and private sector partnerships. The role requires providing substantive inputs to design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring that gender-based stereotypes in media and advertising are addressed. The Programme Analyst will work closely with various stakeholders, including government officials, donors, and civil society, to ensure successful program implementation. This position is crucial for advancing gender equality initiatives and enhancing the awareness of gender issues within the private sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development of program strategies related to the Unstereotype Alliance and private sector partnerships, including designing project proposals and managing partnerships.
  • Provide technical support for the implementation and management of the Unstereotype Alliance, including coordinating calls for proposals and monitoring partner submissions.
  • Offer technical assistance and capacity development to project partners, facilitating training and support as needed.
  • Monitor and report on program activities, drafting reports on progress and outcomes.
  • Manage financial aspects of the Unstereotype Alliance, including budget monitoring and reporting.
  • Build partnerships and resource mobilization strategies, preparing documentation for donor meetings and public events.
  • Develop advocacy materials and manage communication efforts for the Unstereotype Alliance.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender studies, international development, business, marketing, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. Additionally, candidates should have at least one year of progressively responsible work experience with the private sector focusing on gender equality, and experience in media or advertising is considered a strong asset. Knowledge of project management and advocacy campaigns in gender equality is also beneficial.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender studies, international development, business, marketing, or advertising is required. A first-level university degree may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree if accompanied by additional qualifying experience.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of progressively responsible work experience with the private sector on gender equality initiatives. Experience in media and advertising is a strong asset, along with knowledge of project management and advocacy campaigns related to gender equality. Prior work experience with UN organizations is also advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Turkish is mandatory for this position, ensuring effective communication with diverse stakeholders and partners.
