These internships are located in the Central Planning and Coordination Division (CPCD) of the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM) in New York.
The interns will support the Journal Project in CPCD, which issues the daily Journal of the United Nations. In this context, the division seeks motivated interns to support its work.
These internship are UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours), with supervision and support of a staff member.
These internships are for a period between two (2) months and six (6) months, subject to the needs of the Department.
These are remote internship positions to be performed by the selected interns using their personal equipment during the working hours of the Secretariat in New York. No travel required.
Our interns work as full members of our team on projects which make a significant difference in the whole department, and provide opportunities to learn about the United Nations overall.
Interns will focus on the following work areas, as assigned:
AREA 1: CHANGE MANAGEMENT (50%) – Document practices and working methods of the Journal, develop Standard Operating Procedure (SoPs) and training materials for clients; - Support change management in the introduction of new features in the Journal and strengthen user experience and consistency in the display of related data sets; and - Support the development of user stories, presentations, briefing papers, coordinate meetings and document minutes of meetings.
AREA 2: PROJECT MANAGEMENT & DATA ANALYSIS(50%) - Support the day-to-day management of internal databases, including in user acceptance, quality assurance and change management processes; - Support issue management related processes and prepare related correspondence; - Assist in the formulation of project related strategies, business readiness analysis

We are looking for applicants who will demonstrate their intention to study further or work in a field relevant to the work of DGACM.
Please note that to qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
•Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
•Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent)
Applicants must also:
•Have proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel
•Have a degree of familiarity with data management, modeling, mining or statistical analysis and
•Have a degree of familiarity with WordPress and or content management systems.
•Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter
•Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the internship advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage.
