The mandate of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA - unescwa.org) is to promote regional cooperation for inclusive economic and social development among its Member States. This intern position is located in the Strategy, Planning, Accountability, Results and knowledge Section (SPARK) Section. Amongst other tasks, The SPARK team assists the Clusters to analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of activities with the aim to improve the overall performance of UNESCWA. The intern will report to the Coordinator of the SPARK Section. The duration of an ESCWA internship is normally two months on a full-time basis - this may be exceptionally extended for a maximum period of six months. The internship certificate is awarded on the recommendation of the supervisor. Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. The United Nations accepts no responsibility for the medical insurance of the intern or costs arising from injury, illness or death that may occur during an internship. Applicants for internship must show proof of valid medical insurance coverage to cover the full period of the internship at the duty station and provide a medical certificate of good health prior to the commencement of the internship. The United Nations accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to personal effects that may occur during the internship. Interns work five days per week under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
ResponsibilitiesThe intern will undertake the following assignments during the period of his/her internship: 1 - Carry out research, analysis and drafting of documents, and present data and information to support implementation of activities, including the preparation of reports and presentations. 2 - Contribute to the development of online learning materials related to public policy . 3 – Organize and consolidate information derived from written materials and power points and mold them into scripts for courses to be provided online . 4 – Contribute daily to the work of ESCWAs Knowledge management team at SPARK . 6 - Assist in other ad-hoc activities as instructed.

EducationDesired qualifications : Successful candidates should be registered or have complete studies in Law and/or Public policy. Fluency in written English is required . Fluency in Arabic is desirable.
