Job Overview: The purpose of this consultancy is to support WHO/Europe in facilitating team development through structured processes that promote reflection, learning, and continuous improvement. Following significant organizational restructuring and downsizing, there is a recognized need for ongoing team support to enhance team wellbeing and effectiveness. The consultant will provide tailored coaching sessions to teams, helping them identify psychosocial risks and implement necessary changes to maintain resilience and adaptability. This role is crucial in institutionalizing team development as part of WHO's broader commitment to organizational effectiveness and staff wellbeing.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for delivering a maximum of eight team development sessions for each assigned team, depending on funding availability. The sessions will be customized to meet the specific needs of each team, following the structured team development process outlined in the Framework for Ongoing Team Development. The consultant will observe and discuss psychosocial risks during these sessions and facilitate discussions based on the results of the Psychosocial Risk Assessment conducted biannually. Additionally, the consultant will participate in regular intervision sessions to address ongoing challenges and align on approaches. The total expected time commitment is a maximum of 10 days per team, which includes preparation, coordination, record-keeping, and delivery of sessions.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in organizational psychology or a related field, with a strong background in coaching, group dynamics, and process facilitation. Accreditation as a coach, facilitator, or trainer from a recognized professional organization is essential. Training in conflict resolution, mediation, team development, leadership development, and executive coaching is also required. Desirable qualifications include accreditation from the International Coaching Federation (ICF) or the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) at the PCC or Senior Practitioner level.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in organizational psychology is essential for this position. Candidates with a Master’s degree in other social sciences may be considered if they demonstrate a strong background in relevant areas such as coaching and group dynamics. Accreditation from recognized professional organizations is also required, along with training in various relevant fields.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 10 years of relevant professional experience in facilitating teams and groups within complex organizational environments. Experience working with multicultural, cross-functional, hybrid, and geographically dispersed teams is essential, along with a solid understanding of organizational systems and group dynamics. Experience within the UN system or other international organizations is considered an asset.
Languages: Expert knowledge of English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an advantage but is not explicitly required.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is part-time with flexibility regarding the number of working days per month, with a maximum of 5 full working days anticipated. The expected duration of the contract is 11 months, and remuneration is set at a daily rate of USD 625, excluding travel costs. The consultant will work from home but may be required to travel to other locations within the Region. Candidates should be aware that WHO has a smoke-free environment and does not recruit smokers or users of tobacco. Additionally, WHO requires all consultants to confirm their vaccination status as part of the recruitment process.
