Job Overview: The Vocational Training Instructor for Welding and Sheet Metal will play a crucial role in the design and delivery of vocational training programs aimed at equipping Palestine refugees with essential skills for the labor market. The instructor will be responsible for developing learning programs and curricula, conducting occupational and competency analyses, and integrating new technologies into the training process. The role involves facilitating both school-based and work-based learning, preparing inclusive training plans, and ensuring that the training environment is conducive to learning for all students, including those with disabilities. The instructor will also be tasked with preparing assessments, maintaining relationships with employers, and applying quality assurance measures throughout the training cycle. This position requires collaboration with other instructors and staff to create a respectful and organized learning environment, while also supporting initiatives related to greening and digitalization in vocational training.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the design and development of learning programs and curricula, including conducting occupational and competency analyses, drafting program profiles, and integrating new technologies into the training.
Facilitate the delivery of school-based and work-based learning programs, including setting up training venues, preparing inclusive training plans, and monitoring learning in various settings.
Prepare student assessments, including formative and summative assessments, and develop assessment sheets and implementation plans.
Maintain linkages with employers and collect labor market information to inform training courses.
Apply quality assurance tools and processes across the training cycle according to UNRWA's Quality Assurance Framework.
Support greening and digitalization initiatives in vocational training, integrating relevant skills into training courses.
Collaborate with other instructors and staff to maintain a respectful environment and implement co-curricular activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have successfully completed full secondary education and possess two years of post-secondary industrial or technical education or training from an accredited institution in Welding and Sheet Metal Fabrication or a related field. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the values and mission of UNRWA, including integrity, professionalism, and respect for diversity. Strong planning and organizational skills, technical expertise, and the ability to innovate and create are essential for this role. Candidates should also be able to follow instructions and procedures effectively and possess strong networking and relational skills.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes successful completion of full secondary education, along with two years of post-secondary education or training in a relevant field such as Welding and Sheet Metal Fabrication. Experience: While no specific prior work experience is required for this position, candidates are encouraged to indicate any relevant outside activities, such as teaching, consulting, or involvement in community service. This could include freelance work, public speaking, or participation in training and conferences. Languages: For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is required, with a minimum level of proficiency as defined by the UN Language Framework. Additional Notes: This position is a daily paid assignment for up to three months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The daily rate for this position is 25.63 USD, and the salary may be adjusted based on the work schedule. Additional benefits include one day of annual leave and one day of sick leave for each completed month of service. The vacancy is open to both internal and external candidates, but only those residing in Syria and authorized to work in the duty station at the time of application are eligible. UNRWA will not facilitate work permits, and candidates must have a valid permit to be considered for employment. Preference will be given to registered Palestine refugees and candidates from underrepresented genders to promote gender parity within the agency.
