Job Overview:
The Data Analyst position is crucial for supporting the implementation of projects aimed at addressing urban poverty in Rio de Janeiro. The incumbent will work closely with program, operations, and project teams to achieve project objectives and organizational priorities. The role involves developing and validating data variables and indicators, analyzing data from public databases, and presenting findings in various formats. The Data Analyst will also be responsible for creating georeferenced information, organizing capacity-building activities, and providing technical support for data management and urban indicators. This position requires a proactive approach to documenting project processes and ensuring compliance with UN-Habitat's quality standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Data Analyst will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: developing and validating data variables and indicators; extracting and analyzing data from public databases; creating georeferenced information; revising documents related to spatial data; organizing capacity-building activities; providing technical support for data collection and analysis; documenting project processes and methodologies; ensuring timely implementation of deliverables; participating in meetings and events; providing technical guidance on international frameworks; maintaining organized records of project activities; developing knowledge products; and ensuring compliance with UN-Habitat quality standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Sociology, Political Science, Administration, Geography, Economics, Urban Studies, Statistics, or related fields. A postgraduate degree in a relevant field or an additional four years of relevant experience beyond the basic requirement is also acceptable. Strong computer skills, particularly in Windows, Word, Excel, and data visualization tools, are essential. Knowledge of GIS software and programming languages such as R or Python is required, along with experience in primary data collection and project management methodologies.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is mandatory, with a preference for candidates holding a postgraduate degree. The educational background should align with the responsibilities of the position, emphasizing skills in data analysis, public policy, and urban studies.

Experience:
A minimum of six years of experience in data analysis, public policy reporting, and urban project themes is required. Candidates should have progressively responsible experience in urban programs in Brazil, with previous experience within the UN System being desirable. The role demands a strong background in data visualization and management.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is required for this position, with a working knowledge of English being desirable. Knowledge of French and Spanish is beneficial, as they are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat and the Regional Office, respectively.

Additional Notes:
The position is a six-month contract under the LICA type with UNOPS, including Cigna health insurance. The incumbent may be required to travel within Brazil as per project needs, and all travel will adhere to UN policies. The appointment is on a local basis, and only Brazilian nationals or those with a permanent visa in Brazil may apply. The contract extension is contingent upon funding availability and performance.
