The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) was established in 1949 by the United Nations General Assembly. Its mission is to provide aid and protection to a population of approximately 5.7 million registered Palestine refugees. UNRWA operates in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, the West Bank, and the Gaza Strip, focusing on helping these refugees achieve their full potential in human development while awaiting a just solution to their plight. The agency's services include education, healthcare, relief and social services, camp infrastructure improvement, microfinance, and emergency assistance. UNRWA is primarily funded through voluntary contributions and operates within a dynamic environment, particularly in the Jordan Field Office (JFO), which serves over 2.4 million registered Palestine refugees and provides humanitarian and development services to more than 500,000 refugees across 10 official camps in Jordan. Amid financial constraints and regional sensitivities, the Public Information Office (PIO) requires dedicated production capacity to maintain a consistent flow of high-quality visual and multimedia content that documents UNRWA's work and impact.

Job Overview:
The Multimedia Content and Production Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Public Information Office (PIO) by providing dedicated production capacity for photography, videography, editing, and graphic design. This position is essential for creating impactful storytelling through visual and multimedia content that highlights UNRWA's activities and achievements. The assistant will be responsible for planning and conducting photography and video recording sessions during various UNRWA activities, events, and field visits, ensuring that the content captured aligns with UNRWA's communication and safeguarding guidelines. Additionally, the role involves editing and producing short-form video content for digital and social media platforms, as well as designing visuals and graphics for campaigns and donor visibility materials. The assistant will work closely with programme colleagues and area staff to identify content opportunities and support communications activities, ensuring timely and accurate dissemination of information.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Photography, Videography, and Field Production: Plan and conduct photography and video recording sessions during UNRWA activities, events, field visits, and donor missions across Jordan Field Office installations and refugee camps. Coordinate logistics for recording sessions, including scheduling, staff/beneficiary coordination, and on-site setup. Ensure that the content captured is accurate, dignified, and aligns with UNRWA's communication and safeguarding guidelines.
  • Editing and Post-Production: Edit photographs and videos for use across UNRWA's social media platforms, websites, donor reports, and other communication materials. Produce short-form video content, including subtitles/captions, for digital and social media use. Maintain and organize a structured digital archive of photo, video, and design assets.
  • Graphic Design and Visual Content: Design visuals, graphics, posters, and infographics for social media, campaigns, and donor visibility materials, using design tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or Illustrator. Support the visual identity and consistency of content across platforms, in line with UNRWA's branding and communication guidelines.
  • Coordination and Support to Communications Activities: Support the PIO/Liaison and Communications Officer in preparing visibility materials for donor visits, inaugurations, and high-level engagements. Coordinate with programme and area colleagues to identify and schedule relevant content opportunities. Perform other related duties as assigned by the PIO team.

Required Qualifications:
- Completion of secondary education. - Five years of relevant professional experience in photography, videography, video editing, or graphic design, ideally within a media, communications, NGO, or UN context. - Proven portfolio demonstrating photography, video editing, and/or design work. - Experience covering events or field activities under time constraints is an asset. - Familiarity with humanitarian or development contexts is desirable.

Educational Background:
- University degree in Media, Communications, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Film/Video Production, or a related field is preferred. - Relevant professional certification or training in photography, videography, or design may be considered in combination with equivalent practical experience.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in fields such as photography, videography, video editing, or graphic design. Experience within a media, communications, NGO, or UN context is highly desirable, as is experience covering events or field activities under time constraints.

Languages:
Basic proficiency in English and fluency in Arabic are required for this position. Excellent written and spoken command of both languages is essential for effective communication and content creation.
