Job Overview: The intern position at EBRD is designed to provide support to the Regional Director for the East Mediterranean, focusing on business development, market intelligence, strategic analysis, and reporting activities. The intern will be involved in conducting comprehensive research and analysis on key sector players and market dynamics across Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, and the West Bank & Gaza. This role requires a proactive approach to gathering and synthesizing information that will aid in strategic planning and stakeholder engagement. The intern will also assist in preparing various reports and presentations, contributing to the overall mission of the EBRD in enhancing economic development in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for conducting detailed research and analysis on market dynamics and competitive landscapes in priority sectors within the East Mediterranean region. This includes undertaking macroeconomic research, analyzing economic trends, regulatory developments, and sector performance. The intern will monitor market developments and prepare periodic updates on economic and sector trends relevant to EBRD's activities. Additionally, the intern will gather, analyze, and present information on companies and sectors to support business development and strategic planning. Responsibilities also include drafting briefing notes, presentations, and reports for internal and external stakeholders, preparing background materials for meetings, and attending meetings to take notes and support follow-up actions as necessary.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to conduct market and macroeconomic research and synthesize findings into concise reports. Financial analysis skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines effectively. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the capability to work independently with limited supervision are also required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory, while proficiency in Arabic is considered an advantage. A genuine interest in economic development and private sector initiatives is also important for this role.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should be an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Public Policy, International Development, or a related field. Advanced computer literacy, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint, is necessary, along with familiarity with research databases. Candidates with previous internship or work experience in financial institutions, consulting firms, research organizations, government agencies, or international organizations will have a competitive advantage.
Experience: The position is suitable for candidates who are currently pursuing their undergraduate studies or have recently completed their degree. Previous internship experience in relevant fields such as finance, consulting, or research is advantageous but not mandatory.
