Job Overview: The position of SECONDMENT - Assistant Director, Missing Persons is situated within INTERPOL’s Missing and Wanted Persons Directorate, which is part of the Executive Directorate Police Capabilities (EDPC). Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant Director will be tasked with providing strategic leadership and development for the Missing Persons Sub-Directorate. This includes designing and optimizing the structure and processes to align with INTERPOL’s operational needs, implementing strategic policies and best practices for handling cases, and mentoring a multidisciplinary team. The role also involves directing operational coordination, ensuring timely international responses to cases, and integrating intelligence to support member countries. The incumbent will represent the Sub-Directorate at international forums, cultivate partnerships with external organizations, and lead capacity-building initiatives through training programs. Additionally, the Assistant Director will manage the Sub-Directorate’s budget and resources, provide comprehensive reports on activities, and perform any other duties as required by the hierarchy.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least a five-year university degree in Law, Public Policy, Criminal Justice, or a related field. Senior-level law enforcement training or equivalent command-level certification is also required. The role demands a minimum of five years of progressive senior experience in law enforcement, particularly in fugitives/missing persons investigations, operational support, or criminal intelligence. Proven experience in police services, senior people management, and strategic leadership in a complex international environment is essential. If the candidate does not meet the educational requirements, ten years of relevant experience in the field is necessary.
