Job Overview: The UNEP Learning Management System Technical Support Consultant will play a pivotal role in configuring and customizing the Learning Management System (LMS) to meet UNEP's specific needs. This position involves migrating existing digital learning content and user profiles from the current Corporate Academy LMS to the UN Campus, ensuring compatibility and accessibility of learning resources. The consultant will be responsible for launching and sustaining the new LMS platform, making it publicly accessible to the learning community, and providing timely information to the target audience. Additionally, the consultant will document the migration process and facilitate knowledge transfer sessions to build internal capacity among staff members. The role requires a strong understanding of LMS functionalities and the ability to provide technical support throughout the implementation process.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for several key duties, including:
Contributing to the development and operationalization of the UN Campus by managing learning content and user access.
Assessing reporting requirements across various entities to implement effective data solutions.
Facilitating the onboarding of entities to the UN Campus, including data migration and training on functional features.
Synthesizing feedback from learners and stakeholders to inform continuous improvements to the platform.
Performing testing for new features and troubleshooting complex technical issues.
Exploring AI-enabled tools to enhance personalized learning paths and operational efficiency.
Designing and developing learning resources and communication materials.
Reviewing and updating user manuals and technical guides to standardize operations. 1
Delivering hands-on technical training to HR staff to ensure smooth knowledge transfer and platform sustainability. 1
Documenting all resources and ensuring easy accessibility for future reference. 1

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in fields such as Education Technology, Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, Information Systems, Computer Science, Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or Public Administration. Alternatively, a first-level university degree in a relevant field combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Additionally, a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in Moodle Workplace or LMS administration is required, including experience in implementation, content migration, user access management, and training delivery. Experience in supporting organization-wide LMS rollouts within international organizations or large enterprises is highly desirable.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as Education Technology, Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, Information Systems, Computer Science, Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or Public Administration. Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in Moodle Workplace or similar LMS administration. Candidates should have a proven track record in LMS implementation, content and learner-data migration, user access management, testing and quality assurance, troubleshooting, and technical documentation development. Experience in supporting organization-wide LMS rollouts within international organizations, UN agencies, NGOs, or large enterprises is highly desirable, as it demonstrates the ability to navigate complex organizational structures and deliver effective training and support.
Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English is required for this position, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Additionally, proficiency in French is considered an asset, as it is also a working language of the UN. Candidates should possess strong communication skills to effectively convey technical information and facilitate training sessions.
Additional Notes: This consultancy position is expected to last for a duration of 3 months. The role is based in Nairobi, Kenya, and is part of the Human Resources Unit within the Corporate Services Division of UNEP. The consultant will report to the Training Officer and will be expected to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and sustainability of the new LMS platform.
