Job Overview: The Data Analytics and Systems Consultant position is crucial for maintaining and enhancing the Donor Information Platform (DIP) and the Evaluation Portal within UN-Habitat. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring the stability and proper functioning of existing tools and components, including Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint, and Azure SQL. This role requires a focus on data quality and integrity, with regular cleaning, validation, and updates of donor, grant, project, and shared reference datasets. The consultant will also deliver functional and technical improvements to existing components based on user feedback, extend the shared Azure SQL data layer to additional corporate functions, and monitor automation workflows to support operational needs. The position involves close coordination with the Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) to ensure interoperability between the DIP and the corporate Digital Workspace, aligning with UN Secretariat data governance requirements. The consultant will produce and update technical documentation to support knowledge continuity and provide guidance to team members on effective platform use.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain and support the Donor Information Platform (DIP) and the Evaluation Portal, ensuring stability and proper functioning of existing tools and components such as Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint, and Azure SQL.
Ensure data quality and integrity through regular cleaning, validation, and updates of donor, grant, project, and shared reference datasets.
Deliver light functional and technical improvements to existing DIP and Evaluation Portal components, including minor feature enhancements, performance optimization, and usability adjustments based on user feedback.
Extend the shared Azure SQL data layer to additional corporate functions, reusing existing reference data (entities, locations, projects) rather than creating parallel structures, with the Evaluation Portal serving as the replicable model.
Monitor and maintain automation workflows, troubleshoot issues, and implement small adaptations to support evolving operational needs.
Coordinate with OICT on the interoperability between the DIP and the corporate Digital Workspace and align delivery with UN Secretariat data governance requirements.
Produce and update technical documentation on the DIP architecture, data flows, and maintenance procedures to support knowledge continuity, and provide technical guidance to team members on effective use of the platform.
Required Qualifications: A University degree in Data Analytics, Computer Sciences, Information Management, or any other related field is required. The candidate must possess a minimum of two years of experience in designing and implementing data products, particularly in data infrastructure and business intelligence (BI) reports. Knowledge and experience in using SQL, Python, or R for data cleaning, processing, and analysis are essential. Additionally, familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, including Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dynamics 365, is desirable.
Educational Background: The position requires a University degree in Data Analytics, Computer Sciences, Information Management, or a related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of data management and analytics, which are critical to the role.
Experience: The candidate should have at least two years of relevant experience in designing and implementing data products. This experience should include working with data infrastructure and creating business intelligence reports, which are vital for supporting the organization's data-driven decision-making processes.
Languages: Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required for this position, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as it is another working language of the UN, but not mandatory for this role.
