Job Overview: The Programme Analyst for Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) at UN Women will play a crucial role in enhancing the linkages between women and the world of work, particularly in areas such as Gender Responsive Procurement, entrepreneurship, and women's access to finance. This position is integral to the Boosting Agrifood Systems Resilience in Sudan (BOOST) Project, which aims to increase food production and availability while creating agribusiness opportunities for women and youth in Sudan. The Analyst will report to the Regional Policy Specialist and work closely with the Country Representative for Sudan. The role involves generating and applying evidence on lessons learned, facilitating knowledge exchange, mobilizing resources, and strengthening knowledge management and communications for African Development Bank (AfDB) projects. The Analyst will ensure that innovative approaches are integrated into resource mobilization efforts and policy dialogues, contributing to the development of strategic partnerships with various stakeholders to enhance coordination and impact.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Analyst will be responsible for several key functions, including:
Contributing to the development of programme strategies in Women's Economic Empowerment by providing substantive input to the design and formulation of project proposals and initiatives.
Coordinating the design and formulation of AfDB and other International Financial Institution (IFI) proposals throughout the East and Southern Africa (ESA) region.
Supporting the implementation of WEE projects by providing technical input to annual workplans and budgets, leading programme activities, and monitoring the submission of financial and narrative reports from implementing partners.
Developing advocacy materials and coordinating campaigns, events, and knowledge products related to Women's Economic Empowerment.
Supporting resource mobilization efforts by preparing documentation, participating in donor meetings, and analyzing information databases.
Monitoring the progress of programme implementation and finances, drafting reports on results and outcomes, and providing inputs for donor and UN Women reports.
Providing technical support for inter-agency coordination on Women's Economic Empowerment initiatives.
Performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, international development, economics, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. A project/programme management certification is considered an added advantage. Candidates should have at least 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in development programme/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building. Experience in Women's Economic Empowerment, particularly in areas such as entrepreneurship, Gender Responsive Procurement, and Women's Financial Inclusion, is desirable. Familiarity with government agencies and donors, including multi-lateral development banks, is also preferred. Proficiency in using computers and office software packages is required, along with experience in web-based management systems.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, international development, or economics. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. A project/programme management certification would be beneficial.
Experience: The position requires at least 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in development programme/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building.
