Job Overview: The UN Intern in Public Information will be stationed at the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) in Rio de Janeiro. The intern will support the implementation of the UN Brazil digital impact strategy, which includes creating engaging digital content for social media platforms, particularly focusing on TikTok. The intern will also assist in the production of video content, planning interviews with civil society stakeholders, and developing digital advocacy campaigns that cover critical UN priorities such as climate change, human rights, and youth engagement. Additionally, the intern will be involved in translating materials for the UN Brazil website and supporting various events and outreach efforts organized by UNIC Rio.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's responsibilities will include assisting in the development of digital assets for UN Brazil's social media accounts, producing short video content, planning interviews for human-based stories, and developing digital advocacy campaigns. The intern will also assist in researching opportunities to enhance UN Brazil's digital presence, translating speeches and articles, and supporting the organization of events such as press conferences and public outreach activities. Other duties include mapping potential partners and sponsors, updating mailing lists, and maintaining relationships with suppliers. Daily responsibilities will be flexible and will adapt to the evolving needs of UNIC Rio and current events.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate program or the final academic year of a first university degree program. While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants must demonstrate computer literacy in standard software applications, a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, and the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Experience with graphic design tools and content production for digital platforms is also required. The ability to draft press releases and social media posts is desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent) or be in the final year of a first university degree program (bachelor's level or equivalent).
