Job Overview: The STRengthening Infectious Disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) Cameroon Program Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation of the STRIDES Activity in Cameroon. This role involves providing administrative assistance and program management functions to ensure that project activities are executed on schedule and within budget. The Program Officer will collect, compile, and analyze information relevant to project activities, provide administrative and project support, contribute to project-related communication and procurement, and monitor project budgets. The position requires the implementation of strategic communication plans to promote STRIDES goals and manage visibility, ensuring compliance with Branding and Marking policies. Reporting to the STRIDES Cameroon Project Director, the Program Officer will also support compliance-related documentation and tracking of deliverables, coordinate with the technical team, prepare presentations, and assist with other project objectives and deliverables.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Programmatic Management Support: Assist the STRIDES project management team in ensuring project needs and requirements are met, monitor the activities tracker to ensure project deadlines are achieved, and update budget versus actuals (BvA) monitoring tools. Maintain and organize all program documentation, including Terms of Reference (TORs), service notes, activity reports, and procurement tracking sheets. Support the compilation of regular reports and update project dashboards and surveillance/laboratory performance summaries prepared by technical leads. Maintain distribution lists for project reports and set up electronic and physical project files.
Operational Support: Collaborate with the procurement team to prepare requisitions, vendor documentation, inventory lists, and distribution records for project supplies. Finalize travel logistics for staff deployment to the field, including tickets, hotel reservations, travel advances, and trip reports. Support logistics for events, trainings, and workshops by organizing venues, catering, materials, and communication, and preparing participant kits and attendance certificates.
Communication & Project Coordination: Assist the Country Project Director in communication and advocacy strategies to increase awareness of STRIDES goals and achievements. Create high-quality materials, including fact sheets and multimedia content, to showcase STRIDES successes. Provide inputs to the Global team for social media updates and ensure accurate messaging. Translate complex medical or scientific data into accessible health information for the public. Facilitate information flow within the project team and draft official letters, memos, and meeting minutes for circulation. Develop tools to assess the effectiveness of communication activities and prepare regular progress reports.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong oral and written communication skills, demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite software, and the ability to solve problems and recommend corrective actions as needed. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential to adhere to project deadlines. Candidates should be articulate, professional, and able to communicate clearly and positively with clients and staff. Fluency in English is mandatory, with the ability to read, write, and speak the language proficiently.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree or its international equivalent in fields such as Civil Society, Communication and Law, Economic Development, Education, Administration, Public Health Administration, Research, Technology, and Youth or a related field is required for this position.
Experience: Typically, a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience supporting projects or technical practice areas is required. Experience in Global Healthsecurity" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security, One Health, surveillance, or laboratory systems is advantageous. Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization is preferred, along with familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as mandatory.
Additional Notes: The position is expected to require travel of 10% to 35%. The hiring salary range for this role is XAF 9,000,000 - 11,000,000 for annual gross salary for national local hire.
