Job Overview: The People & Culture Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the administrative and transactional functions of the People & Culture (P&C) operations within the country office. This position is essential for maintaining accurate personnel records, facilitating recruitment and onboarding processes, coordinating training logistics, and assisting with payroll and benefits administration. The P&C Associate is expected to provide high-quality customer service to staff members while ensuring compliance with P&C policies, procedures, and local labor regulations. This role is vital for fostering a positive work environment and supporting the overall mission of FHI 360 in Cameroon, particularly in the context of the EpiC project, which focuses on HIV epidemic control and health system strengthening.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the People & Culture Associate include supporting the recruitment process by posting job vacancies, scheduling interviews, and preparing correspondence for candidates. The Associate is responsible for maintaining employee records in the Human ResourcesInformation System (HRIS) and ensuring that personnel files are complete and up-to-date. Additionally, the Associate assists in preparing payroll and benefits documentation, provides logistical and administrative support for training sessions, meetings, and employee engagement activities, and responds to basic staff inquiries regarding P&C policies and procedures. The Associate also supports compliance with labor laws through accurate recordkeeping and acts as the timekeeper for the organization, ensuring that all timesheets are submitted on time. This role requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to solve routine administrative and logistical issues with minimal supervision.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the People & Culture Associate position must possess a Bachelor’s degree in human resources, law, management, or a related field. A minimum of 2 years of experience in human resources and administration, preferably within an NGO or international organization, is required. Candidates should have a basic understanding of human resources processes and terminology, as well as proficiency in the MS Office Suite and familiarity with databases. Strong organizational and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to prepare technical documents and reports, and a positive and professional attitude in a multicultural environment.
Educational Background: The educational background required for the People & Culture Associate position includes a Bachelor’s degree in human resources, law, management, or a related field. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the principles and practices of human resources management, as well as the legal and regulatory frameworks that govern employment in Cameroon.
Experience: The position requires at least 2 years of relevant experience in human resources and administration, ideally within a non-governmental organization (NGO) or an international organization. This experience should include familiarity with HR processes, recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and compliance with labor laws. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of effectively supporting P&C operations and contributing to a positive workplace culture.
Languages: Proficiency in French is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication in Cameroon. Additional Notes: The People & Culture Associate position is a full-time role based in Yaounde, Cameroon. The expected hiring salary range for this position is between XAF 7,000,000 and 9,000,000 for annual gross salary for national local hires.
