Job Overview: The Training Officer will play a crucial role in designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the Umoja training program and related training projects. This position requires close collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to ensure that training plans align with the organization's goals and staff development policies. The Training Officer will be responsible for creating e-learning content and instructional materials, monitoring training project delivery, and conducting training needs assessments through surveys and data analysis. The role also involves evaluating the effectiveness of training solutions and making recommendations for improvements. The Training Officer will conduct workshops, including Training of Trainers events, and promote the use of e-Learning platforms for online training delivery. Additionally, the incumbent will lead enhancements to the Learning Management System (LMS) and provide advisory services to learning managers and clients on best practices for blended learning solutions.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Training Officer's responsibilities include:
Designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the Umoja training program and related projects in coordination with SMEs.
Analyzing and executing training plans to ensure alignment with organizational goals and staff development policies.
Developing e-learning content and instructional materials in collaboration with the Umoja Training team.
Monitoring the delivery of training projects, reviewing documents, and ensuring follow-up actions.
Identifying staff development needs through surveys and data collection, analyzing responses, and preparing training recommendations.
Coordinating training projects as part of organizational learning programs focused on capacity development.
Evaluating the effectiveness and impact of training solutions and recommending enhancements.
Conducting training workshops and Training of Trainers events.
Leading the LMS team to enhance system performance and provide advisory services. 1
Initiating outreach activities and preparing communication materials. 1
Supervising assigned staff, consultants, and contractors for training activities. 1
Preparing performance reports on the training program and managing the training budget. 1
Performing other duties as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of training design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, implementation, and monitoring, particularly in the context of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. They should have the ability to deliver training programs using both classroom and online methods, establish effective relationships with various partners, and conduct training needs assessments. Candidates should demonstrate conceptual, analytical, and evaluative skills for independent research on learning methods, as well as proficiency in using business intelligence and data analysis tools. The ability to manage conflicting priorities and demonstrate professionalism and commitment to gender perspectives in the workplace is essential.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in education, human resources management, information systems management, business administration, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in learning management projects, capacity development, and training is required. Candidates should have experience in designing blended training programs that include e-learning components, as well as in developing and delivering ERP training programs. Experience in administering a Learning Management System (LMS) and evaluating emerging technologies to enhance system performance and learning experiences is also required. Familiarity with enterprise resource planning software such as Umoja and talent management software like Inspira is desirable.
Languages: English is required for this position, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is also a working language of the United Nations, but proficiency in French is not mandatory for this role.
Additional Notes: The appointment for this position is for an initial period of one year, subject to the availability of the post or funds.
