Job Overview:
The Senior Driver position at WFP involves providing efficient and safe transportation services to senior WFP staff, high-ranking UN officials, and visitors. The role requires the incumbent to coordinate transport-related services under the direct supervision of the MS Assistant (Fleet Management) and to work closely with the Business Support Associate in the Office of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director. The Senior Driver is expected to maintain a high level of protocol and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, ensuring that the vehicle is always ready for immediate deployment. This position is crucial in facilitating smooth operations and ensuring that WFP staff can perform their duties effectively and safely.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Driver will be responsible for providing transportation to the Country Director and other high-ranking officials, ensuring that all transport-related services are conducted in accordance with UN safety and security regulations. Key responsibilities include planning and assigning routes for other drivers, maintaining vehicle logbooks, reporting mechanical issues, coordinating vehicle maintenance, and ensuring that vehicles are clean and equipped for travel. The driver will also assist with airport meet-and-greet services, provide basic assistance with visa and customs formalities, and perform basic office tasks as needed. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and adherence to established rules and regulations for field deliveries and accident reporting.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and certification to operate assigned vehicles, along with a completion of secondary school education (passing SEE at the end of Grade 10). Formal driver training is essential, and candidates should have a demonstrated safe driving record. Knowledge of driving rules, transport protocols, and local road conditions is crucial. The ability to maintain a professional demeanor and provide excellent customer service is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position includes the completion of secondary school education, specifically passing the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) at the end of Grade 1

• Additionally, formal driver training is necessary to ensure that the candidate is well-versed in operating vehicles according to local regulations and safety standards.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of work experience as a driver, preferably within an international organization, embassy, or UN system. Experience in driving various types of vehicles, including vans and trucks, is essential. A demonstrated safe driving record and familiarity with defensive driving techniques are highly desirable. The ability to assess vehicles for mechanical fitness and perform minor repairs is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in both spoken and written English and Nepali is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
