Job Overview:
The position of Assistant(e) chargé(e) de la communication is crucial for supporting the communication and health promotion functions of the WHO office in the Central African Republic. The role involves producing and disseminating high-quality public information on both emerging and existing public health issues through various platforms, including print media, web, broadcasting, and social media. The incumbent will also contribute to managing the reputation and visibility of WHO by monitoring public opinion and concerns, responding strategically to these issues. Given the significant health challenges faced by the Central African Republic, effective communication is essential to improve access to healthcare services and foster trust between the population and health actors. The Assistant will enhance the visibility of health campaigns, engage youth through creative formats, and ensure a consistent online presence for WHO.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Assistant(e) chargé(e) de la communication will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Developing and implementing communication strategies that align with WHO's objectives in the Central African Republic.
  • Creating compelling content for various communication channels, including social media, websites, and press releases.
  • Monitoring and analyzing public sentiment regarding health issues and WHO's initiatives.
  • Collaborating with health professionals and stakeholders to gather information and insights for effective communication.
  • Organizing and coordinating events, workshops, and press conferences to promote health initiatives.
  • Engaging with the community to raise awareness about health services and encourage preventive behaviors.
  • Producing multimedia content, including videos and infographics, to enhance communication efforts.
  • Reporting on the effectiveness of communication campaigns and making recommendations for improvement.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in communication, journalism, or public relations. Essential qualifications include:
  • Excellent writing skills in French, with proficiency in English or a local language being desirable.
  • Proficiency in social media management and graphic design tools such as Canva and Adobe.
  • Basic knowledge of social media analytics and reporting.
  • Skills in photography and video editing are considered an asset.
  • A proactive and creative approach, with a results-oriented mindset and strong teamwork abilities.
  • Adherence to WHO's values of respect, ethics, and teamwork.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a Bac + 2 years of higher education in communication, journalism, public health, public relations, or a related field. Candidates with equivalent qualifications will also be considered.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in communication, journalism, or public relations. Experience in a national or international organization, particularly in the field of public health, is highly desirable. This experience should demonstrate the ability to manage communication strategies effectively and engage with diverse audiences.

Languages:
Proficiency in French is essential for this position. Basic knowledge of English is desirable but not mandatory. Familiarity with local languages can be an advantage, especially in community engagement efforts.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is a maximum of 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on funding availability and performance. The position is based at the WHO office in Bangui, Central African Republic, and may require travel within the country for operational needs. The selected candidate will be recruited at the G5 grade level of the UN salary scale for national staff in the Central African Republic, with a monthly salary of XAF 831,66
