Job Overview:
The Vocational Training Instructor for Aluminum Fabrication and Installation is responsible for designing and developing learning programs and curricula tailored to the needs of students in this specialized field. The instructor will facilitate both school-based and work-based learning programs, ensuring that training venues are properly set up and that the necessary facilities and equipment are utilized effectively. The role involves preparing inclusive training plans, monitoring learning in various environments, and employing adult learning strategies to accommodate trainees with disabilities and special learning needs. The instructor will also be tasked with preparing student assessments, developing assessment sheets, and conducting knowledge and practice-based evaluations. Additionally, the instructor will maintain linkages with employers and other stakeholders, collect labor market information, and apply quality assurance tools throughout the training cycle. The position requires collaboration with other instructors and staff to create a respectful and organized learning environment, implement Occupational Health and Safety measures, and support co-curricular activities. The instructor will also be involved in greening and digitalization initiatives within the training programs, integrating relevant skills into the curriculum, and ensuring that the training meets the standards set by UNRWA's TVET Quality Assurance Framework.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the design and development of learning programs and curricula, including conducting occupational and competency analyses, drafting program profiles, and integrating new technologies into the subject area.
  • Facilitate the delivery of school-based and work-based learning programs, including setting up training venues, preparing inclusive training plans, and monitoring learning in various settings.
  • Prepare student assessments, including formative and summative assessments, and develop inclusive skills assessment plans.
  • Maintain linkages with employers and TVET instructors, collect labor market information, and conduct skills needs assessments.
  • Apply quality assurance tools and processes across the training cycle according to UNRWA's standards.
  • Support greening and digitalization initiatives, integrating relevant skills into training courses.
  • Collaborate with other instructors and staff to maintain a respectful learning environment and implement Occupational Health and Safety measures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires successful completion of full Secondary Education along with two years of post-secondary technical education or training in Mechanical Engineering. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the values and mission of UNRWA and possess the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment. The role demands strong planning and organizational skills, technical expertise, creativity, and the ability to follow instructions and procedures. Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed full Secondary Education and possess two years of post-secondary technical education or training in Mechanical Engineering. This educational background is essential to ensure that the instructor has the necessary technical knowledge and skills to effectively teach and guide students in the field of aluminum fabrication and installation.

Experience:
While no specific work experience is required for this position, candidates are encouraged to indicate any relevant involvement in outside activities, such as teaching, consulting, or other professional engagements. This could include volunteer work, participation in conferences, or any other relevant experiences that demonstrate the candidate's commitment to education and vocational training.

Languages:
English is required for this position, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Arabic is desirable, also at UN Level II proficiency. The ability to communicate effectively in both languages will enhance the instructor's ability to engage with students and colleagues in the training environment.

Additional Notes:
This position is a Daily Paid Assignment for up to three months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The daily rate for this position is $25.63, and the salary may be subject to a reduced work schedule. Additional benefits include one day of annual leave and one day of sick leave for each completed month of service. The vacancy is open to both internal and external candidates, but only those residing in Syria and authorized to work in the duty station at the time of application are eligible. UNRWA will not facilitate work permits, and candidates must have valid authorization to work in Syria. Preference will be given to registered Palestine refugees and candidates from underrepresented genders to promote gender parity.
