Job Overview:
The Information Management and Analytics Analyst plays a crucial role in the design, maintenance, and improvement of database structures, as well as database administration. This position is essential for ensuring data availability and accuracy to support both programmatic and operational needs. The analyst will work under the guidance of the Information Management and Analytics Senior Analyst, contributing to the development of the Information Management (IM) function and supporting the overall objectives of the UNMAS Syria Programme. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure timely access to relevant mine action data, as well as providing technical inputs for the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to information management. The analyst will also be responsible for data collection, validation, and the creation of data visualization products to aid in reporting and decision-making processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Information Management and Analytics Analyst will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: assisting in the development of the IM function; supporting the upscaling or downscaling of the IM Unit structure; identifying and reporting gaps, challenges, risks, and opportunities; supporting the development and maintenance of database structures; ensuring data validation, cleaning, compliance, and routine quality checks; coordinating with stakeholders to ensure timely access to mine action data; supporting the development of the national database; delivering training on IM processes; conducting spatial analysis and producing maps; and creating data and information packages for reporting purposes. The analyst will also be expected to contribute to the overall IM functions, including GIS applications and information governance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Information Technology, Information Management, Computer Sciences, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree or equivalent) with two years of relevant experience, or a high school diploma with six years of relevant experience will also be considered. Additionally, candidates should have experience in information management support, database systems, data quality management, and GIS tools.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Information Technology, Information Management, or Computer Sciences. Candidates with a first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree) and two years of relevant experience, or those with a high school diploma and six years of relevant experience, are also eligible. This flexibility in educational background allows for a diverse range of applicants to be considered for the role.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have substantial experience in providing information management support, particularly in managing database systems and ensuring data quality. Candidates should have experience in data modeling, validation rules, data cleaning, and database administration, as well as proficiency in SQL/PostgreSQL or similar systems. Experience with GIS tools and producing spatial analysis outputs is also essential. Additionally, candidates should have a background in designing and delivering technical training to various stakeholders, which is crucial for the role.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic is required for this position. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in both languages to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse stakeholders in the region. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, but English and Arabic are mandatory for fulfilling the responsibilities of the role.

Additional Notes:
The position is classified as an Associate level role (ICS 08) and is offered under an Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA) with a regular contract type. The contract duration is ongoing, subject to the availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
