Job Overview:
The Senior Private Sector Partnerships and Events Lead Consultant will play a crucial role in supporting UNEP's Sectoral Transition Section in its mission to accelerate the decarbonization of emissions-intensive sectors such as Buildings and Construction, Energy, Cooling, and Food Loss and Waste. This position involves developing strategic partnerships, enhancing private sector engagement, and fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration to achieve significant climate action. The consultant will be responsible for creating a long-term strategy for engaging with global and regional forums, coordinating high-level events, and ensuring that these initiatives align with UNEP's programmatic objectives. The role requires a deep understanding of the sectors involved and the ability to mobilize resources effectively to support the implementation of sustainable solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:

• Developing a long-term strategy for engagement with global and regional forums, coordinating organization and fundraising for events, and ensuring alignment with programmatic objectives.
• Supporting the elaboration of the Section's strategy for private sector engagement, identifying new partnership opportunities, and maintaining an active stakeholder engagement pipeline.
• Leading the planning, production, and delivery of thematic high-level conferences, ministerial dialogues, and stakeholder engagement activities, ensuring these events contribute to policy objectives and enhance UNEP's visibility.
• Coordinating with the Global communications lead to ensure impactful communications and developing action plans for events to meet sustainability practices.
• Performing additional tasks as requested by the UNEP Sectoral Transitions Chief, including preparing concept notes, agendas, and communication materials, and facilitating stakeholder consultations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in business administration, public policy, economics, environmental or social sciences, or engineering with a focus on buildings, cooling, energy, and construction. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Additionally, candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in partnerships development, events production, and resource mobilization, with a strong background in sustainable buildings, cooling, climate change, and related fields. Excellent organizational, logistical, diplomatic, and communication skills are essential.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in relevant fields such as business administration, public policy, economics, environmental or social sciences, or engineering with a focus on buildings, cooling, energy, and construction. Candidates with a first-level university degree and additional qualifying experience may also be considered.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in partnerships development, events production, and resource mobilization. Experience in sustainable buildings, cooling, climate change, urban energy, and food loss and waste is mandatory. Familiarity with international organizations and intergovernmental bodies is considered an asset.

Languages:
Excellent proficiency in English and French is mandatory, particularly in writing skills that effectively communicate political and scientific insights. This bilingual capability is crucial for the role, as it involves engaging with diverse stakeholders and producing high-quality communication materials.

Additional Notes:
The position is expected to be home-based and has an anticipated duration of 5.5 months, with the possibility of extension. The consultant will work closely with various teams within UNEP and external partners, including Member States, international organizations, and private sector representatives. The role emphasizes professionalism, communication skills, planning and organizing abilities, and teamwork.
