Job Overview:
The Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer in ensuring that data collection tools are completed effectively and that any inconsistencies or missing information are clarified with the relevant Programme departments. This position involves assisting in research activities that evaluate the effectiveness of various interventions, which includes developing questionnaires and surveys. The incumbent will also contribute to designing appropriate indicators, targets, and benchmarks that will be used to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of the Special Fund Office (SFO) programmes. The role requires reviewing and analyzing data, writing summary reports based on monitoring and evaluation results, and preparing field monitoring tools. Additionally, the assistant will be responsible for drafting monitoring findings after field visits and supporting the preparation of summary tables, charts, or visuals to facilitate the interpretation of results and trends. The position also involves assisting Projects Officers in preparing accurate data for donor reports and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Follow up with Programme departments to ensure the completion of data collection tools and clarify any missing or inconsistent information.
• Support research activities related to the effectiveness of interventions, including the development of questionnaires and surveys.
• Contribute to the design of appropriate indicators, targets, and benchmarks for monitoring and evaluating SFO programmes.
• Review and analyze data, writing summary reports based on monitoring and evaluation results.
• Assist in coordinating logistical arrangements for meetings or surveys related to monitoring activities, including third-party monitoring.
• Prepare field monitoring tools and draft monitoring findings following field visits.
• Support the preparation of summary tables, charts, or visuals to facilitate the interpretation of results and trends.
• Assist Projects Officers in preparing accurate data for donor reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have successfully completed full secondary education and possess a two-year diploma from an accredited educational institution in business administration, social science, operational research, statistics, or a related field. Familiarity with UN system processes is desirable. Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes successful completion of full secondary education and a two-year diploma from an accredited institution in relevant fields such as business administration, social science, operational research, or statistics. Experience:
Candidates are required to have at least four years of relevant work experience in planning processes, research, or monitoring and evaluation, preferably within an international organization or UN agency. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to engage in effective monitoring and evaluation practices and contribute to the overall success of the agency's programs.

Languages:
For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is required. Candidates must meet the minimum required level for reading, writing, listening, and speaking in both languages according to the UN Language Framework. While English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, this specific job opening emphasizes the necessity of Arabic proficiency due to the local context.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a Limited Duration Contract for six months, with the possibility of renewal based on funding availability, satisfactory performance, and continuing need. The monthly basic salary for this role is 638.70 USD, which may be subject to a reduced work schedule. Additional benefits include dependency allowances (if applicable), 30 days of annual leave pro-rated to the duration of the contract, sick leave, maternity leave, and paternity leave upon meeting eligibility requirements. The vacancy is open to both internal and external candidates, but only those residing in Syria and within commuting distance of the duty station with authorization to work in Syria are eligible to apply.
