Job Overview:
The role involves supporting the translation, review, and technical editing of six specialized documents developed in Chile regarding public climate policy from a gender perspective. These documents analyze gender gaps and opportunities for integrating gender considerations into various sectors of Chile's climate policy. The volunteers will work collaboratively in pairs, with each person translating three documents and reviewing the other three. The work will be structured over approximately three weeks per document, involving translation, cross-review, peer feedback, and final adjustments. The process will utilize AI tools and other validated translation assistance tools, ensuring that the translations maintain conceptual accuracy, terminological consistency, and adherence to UN Women’s institutional language.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Translation: Each volunteer will translate three assigned documents from Spanish to French, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
• Cross-review: Volunteers will review each other's translations for linguistic, technical, and conceptual accuracy, focusing on terminological precision and coherence.
• Peer feedback: Volunteers will exchange observations and collaboratively resolve any terminological or conceptual doubts, establishing common criteria for consistency.
• Final adjustments: Incorporate agreed observations into the translated documents and prepare final versions for submission to UN Women.
• Use of AI tools: Volunteers will utilize AI and other translation tools responsibly, ensuring compliance with UN policies on AI use and information protection.
• Maintain coherence: Establish common terminological and editorial criteria to ensure consistency across all translated documents.

Required Qualifications:
Volunteers should possess strong language skills in both Spanish and French, with a deep understanding of gender issues and climate policy. They should have experience in technical translation and editing, particularly in the context of public policy. Familiarity with UN Women’s institutional language and standards is essential. Volunteers must demonstrate attention to detail, the ability to work collaboratively, and a commitment to gender equality and climate justice.

Educational Background:
A degree in translation, linguistics, gender studies, environmental science, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have formal training in translation and a strong academic background in gender and climate issues.

Experience:
Candidates should have prior experience in translation and editing, particularly in technical or policy-related documents. Experience working with international organizations or in gender and climate policy contexts is highly desirable. Volunteers should be able to demonstrate their ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish and French is mandatory. Knowledge of English or other languages relevant to the UN system is considered an asset.
