Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the External Relations Intern include:
Providing quality translation of key documents, including press releases, to ensure accurate communication of UNHCR's messages.
Supporting the compilation of reports for both internal and external audiences, contributing to the dissemination of information about UNHCR's activities and impact.
Assisting in the organization of internal and external events, which may include logistics, coordination, and communication with participants.
Drafting engaging social media postings to promote UNHCR's initiatives and raise awareness about refugee issues.
Conducting research to support the team's efforts in advocacy and communication strategies.
Managing and coordinating visibility items, ensuring that UNHCR's branding and messaging are consistent and effective.
Supporting administrative tasks within the office as needed, contributing to the overall efficiency of the team.
Performing any other duties as required by the supervisor, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the External Relations Intern position should possess the following qualifications:
A strong interest in international cooperation and development, particularly in the context of humanitarian work.
Previous experience or knowledge related to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Korea International Cooperation Agency, International Organizations, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), or the humanitarian field is preferred.
Proficiency in MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel, with a solid understanding of PeopleSoft being an advantage.
Relevant experience in communication, design skills, and social media management is highly recommended.
Strong drafting and documentation skills, along with cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills, are essential for effective collaboration within the team.
Ability to translate documents accurately and efficiently, ensuring clarity and consistency in messaging.
Educational Background: Candidates applying for the External Relations Intern position should have a relevant educational background, typically in fields such as international relations, development studies, communications, or a related discipline. Additional Notes: This internship is a full-time role, with working hours from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. The successful candidate will be assigned to support the UNHCR Korea team and will receive a stipend of KRW 2,200,000 funded by KOICA. The internship is open to Korean citizens aged between 19 and 34, with specific age extensions for those who have served in the military. Previous participants of the KOICA Young Professional Program are not eligible for this internship. This position does not require functional clearance and is not remote.
